A striking pictorial of actor Park Minyoung and Wi Ha-jun has been released.
Park Minyoung and Wi Ha-jun left a strong presence through a pictorial for fashion & beauty magazine Allure Korea. The two will co-star in the cable channel tvN Monday-Tuesday drama "Siren," which premieres on Mar. 2.
In the released pictorial, Park Minyoung and Wi Ha-jun evoke a seductive atmosphere amid a peculiar tension.
In the interview that followed the shoot, Park Minyoung and Wi Ha-jun expressed abundant expectation and affection for the project. Asked why she was drawn to the project, Park Minyoung said, "Personally, the fact that it is a character I have never experienced before was fascinating. I think this is the first work in which I never smiled even once. Seol-ah is a character who locks herself in a glass box and becomes horribly isolated. It is interesting to see how a dry, parched character changes after meeting 'Cha Woo-seok,'" raising her expectations.
Wi Ha-jun also vividly conveyed how immersive he felt when he first saw the script. "At first I received the script up to episode 4, and I thought, 'What is this? So what happens next?' and I looked forward to the next installment. Normally I do not get angry even if I am spoiled, and I can watch something a month or two later without much regret. But I read the 'Siren' script in one sitting. That rarely happens to me," he said, recounting the moment he instantly reached a state of immersion.
The two, who said they immersed themselves in the project more than ever for dense characters, continued talking about their chemistry on set. Park Minyoung said, "Seol-ah is a child who isolates herself, so I had to convey subtle inner changes through my eyes. That's why I put the most effort into it. I tried to become similar, and for some parts I referenced Keigo Higashino's novel "Byakuyakō". For emotionally deep scenes, I would read that novel before going into a shoot," she said.
Wi Ha-jun said, "My older co-star is such a veteran that I received a lot of help. There was tension between the characters, so it took time to become close, but after we became close I drew energy from her bright side. Toward the end of filming I thought for the first time, 'I want to do just one more project with these people as is.' There had never been a set that received and gave this much love," showing his affection.
