"Culinary Class Wars2" appearance that drew attention, chef Lim Seong-geun, who had paused broadcasting activities amid controversy over six prior convictions, returned via YouTube but is now embroiled in a quality controversy over home shopping products.
Lim Seong-geun resumed activity on YouTube on the 18th through his personal channel "Lim-jjang TV." Last month, despite his outstanding performance and intense interest on the past Netflix original variety show "Culinary Class Wars: Culinary Class Wars 2," he confessed to having six prior convictions and stopped broadcasting activities, and it had been only a month since then.
Earlier, Lim Seong-geun had told domestic reporters including OSEN that he planned to reopen a restaurant and resume YouTube activity. Apart from the short one-month suspension, his return to YouTube itself appeared to resume without notable controversy.
The problem broke out not on YouTube but elsewhere. Before suspending broadcasting activities, Lim Seong-geun fulfilled scheduled home shopping appearances. After the controversy over his prior convictions emerged, no additional contracts were made, but the planned schedule was carried out to prevent the home shopping companies that contracted with Lim Seong-geun from collapsing ahead of the holiday season. Orders relying on his skills as a certified master chef followed, setting aside the controversy over his prior convictions.
However, many buyers who actually received the home shopping products posted dissatisfied reviews. As Lim Seong-geun actively used ribs on his first broadcast on "Korean Food Battle 3" as well as on "Culinary Class Wars2," the holiday home shopping items consisted of holiday rib dishes such as LA galbi, galbijjim, and galbitang. But criticisms arose such as "there is little meat and too much seasoning," "the meat is so tough that a 7-year-old child cannot chew it," and "there is too much fat."
One internet user even posted photos claiming the home shopping product they ordered, and at a glance the LA galbi cut had a lot of fat that reduced the appetite. As a result, there were responses that even if it was only some parts, it was difficult to meet the expectations set by putting certified master chef Lim Seong-geun's name on the product.
However, Lim Seong-geun's side has not issued a separate statement on this matter. Since he suspended broadcasting activities and fulfilled the scheduled home shopping appearances, it is interpreted that he is focusing only on the restaurant he plans to open and recipe content through his personal YouTube channel.
