Group DJ DOC's Lee Ha-neul sang with actress Kim Gyuri at the gopchang restaurant he runs and was subject to a district office crackdown, but defiantly sang again in the restaurant.
Lee Ha-neul conducted a live broadcast on the 24th showing that the restaurant was operating normally. He said, "We are starting new kitchen construction on the second floor and from March 1 we will close the first floor for a few days and completely renovate the kitchen. The malicious commenters gave the model answer for what I should do."
He added, "We will close for four days and because malicious commenters might seize on any small flaw and attack, we will completely gut and fix the kitchen so there is no room for criticism and make the cleanest gopchang restaurant in Korea."
In particular, he sang in front of Jeong Jae-yong and customers, saying, "Having a sound system in a restaurant and singing is not wrong. It is not illegal for the owner to sing in the restaurant," and "This is not illegal."
Finally, he said, "Thank you for watching and supporting me. If you weren't here, what would I look to and endure? Thanks to you I can fight."
Earlier, Kim Gyuri announced that she held a meetup with subscribers at a gopchang restaurant in Seoul through her recent social media and her YouTube channel "Kim Gyuri TV Mobsi." The gopchang restaurant is co-operated by Lee Ha-neul and Jeong Jae-yong.
Kim Gyuri posted a video titled "With DJ DOC! met Mobsi subscribers" and released a shorts video showing the three of them passionately singing Run To You in the restaurant. However, some internet users who saw this reported it to the district office as a "violation of the Food Sanitation Act," spreading controversy.
Under the current Food Sanitation Act, ordinary restaurants must not allow business activities that permit customers to sing or dance, and violations can result in business suspension or license revocation. Accordingly, Lee Ha-neul's gopchang restaurant also became the subject of a report.
In response, Lee Ha-neul explained, "Kim Gyuri reserved all the seats and paid because she wanted to treat her fan club members," and said, "It was just that as a fan service they asked, 'Brother, please sing one song,' so I sang." He went on to express his grievance, saying, "One scene like that was reported because people have different political leanings."
Regarding the online rumor of a "two-month business suspension," he drew a line, saying, "We have never received any administrative measures such as a business suspension even once, and we are currently operating normally," and "A two-month business suspension is clearly false information."
