The impact GV for the film "Humint," which has been heating up theaters with persistent word of mouth, was held successfully.
On the evening of the 23rd, the film 'Humint' (director Ryu Seung-wan, distributed/provided by NEW, produced by Oyu Naegang) hosted a meaningful session at Lotte Cinema Seoul World Tower, attended by lead actors Park Jeongmin, Park Hae-jun, Shin Sae-kyeong, Jeong Yu-jin and director Ryu Seung-wan, with film journalist Lee Eun-seon moderating, where they had an in-depth discussion about the work. The event, which sold out immediately after ticketing opened, once again proved the audience's strong interest in "Humint."
# Character behind the scenes "what matters more than the body is the character's flow"
As the GV began, the actors honestly shared the points they worried about while preparing their characters. Park Jeongmin said, "I thought that even if the action is big, the emotion should not become small. It was more important not to lose the character's flow than the physical difficulty," and Park Hae-jun said, "To maintain tension, I tried to keep the character's state even before filming. I felt that the interplay with the co-actor determines the scene's intensity." Shin Sae-kyeong said, "I thought Chae Seon-hwa is also an agent who drives the incident. What matters is what choices she makes in the situation, and Chae Seon-hwa is a character who made a very brave choice," and Jeong Yu-jin added, "We talked a lot about how emotion should come first even in action scenes," expressing empathy for designing the characters around their respective roles.
# Vladivostok action behind the scenes "action that starts from situation and emotion"
During the following pre Q&A, questions poured in about action direction and behind the scenes of overseas location shooting. Director Ryu Seung-wan explained his direction, saying, "Action ultimately starts from situation and emotion. I wanted to create scenes that explode only when a character's choices have accumulated." Regarding the car chase and gun scenes, he said, "I tried to maximize tension while maintaining realism." He also explained that he chose Vladivostok because "I thought the snow-covered Vladivostok before spring would serve as a backdrop that suits the way characters who live hiding the truth live," directly explaining the symbolism and atmosphere of the location to heighten audience immersion.
# Recording behind the scenes "this was director Park Chan-wook's idea"
The behind-the-scenes of the recording scene between Park Geon and Seon-hwa, which received particularly enthusiastic responses from the audience, was also revealed. Director Ryu Seung-wan said, "When Park Geon listens to Seon-hwa's audio file, the scene in which Hwang Chi-seong watches and eavesdrops is director Park Chan-wook's idea. After reading the script, he advised that 'since Seon-hwa has been involved with music continuously, he thought she would have given a song as a birthday present.' Hwang Chi-seong watching that scene felt like a very persuasive idea, so I gratefully incorporated it," which received great applause from the audience. In addition to directing and acting, revealing behind-the-scenes stories outside the work added special meaning.
The film "Humint" tells the story of people with different aims clashing in Vladivostok, where secrets and truth are submerged in the cold sea of ice, and is now showing nationwide in theaters.
