Singer and music producer Chancellor, 40, was reportedly detained by police in Japan on suspicion of drug possession.
According to Japan media including Jiji Press on the 24th, Chancellor was arrested in the act early the previous morning at a hotel room in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, on suspicion of violating the stimulant control law.
Earlier that day, it became known that Jacobs, 40, a former member of the group Dalmatian and the producer of the Japanese girl group XG, was arrested on suspicion of drug possession, and Chancellor was reported to be one of the people who were at the scene at the time. Two employees of major Japanese agency Avex were also arrested.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department received an anonymous tip and had conducted a preliminary investigation for about a year. A bag containing cocaine and a substance believed to be dried cannabis were reportedly found in the hotel room where the group was staying. It is not yet known whether Chancellor and the others admit the allegations, and investigators are looking into how the drugs were obtained, whether they were actually used, and any collusion.
Chancellor, a Korean American, graduated from Berklee College of Music in the United States and previously worked as a member of the producing team Duble Sidekick. He is currently signed to entertainment agency XGLAX, which Jacobs founded in 2018. He married a flight attendant three years his junior in 2022 and had a daughter in Oct. last year, and recently posted on social media a photo of his child with the caption, "Someone who's ready to come out and play with me at the XG concert."
