'Fate War 49' producers issued an additional apology after using the deaths of fallen firefighters and then a fallen police officer as broadcast material.
On the 24th, Disney+ original variety show 'Fate War 49' producers released a second apology, saying "we offer an additional apology."
'Fate War 49' said first, "We mourn those who died in the line of duty and extend our deep condolences and respect to the bereaved families," opening their statement, and added, "We sincerely apologize to the fallen, the bereaved families who may have been hurt, the colleagues, and the many people who were troubled by this matter for the parts in which a shaman appearing on the program, not knowing the deceased, performed a reading during which inappropriate language and descriptions appeared."
They added, "The production team is listening to the bereaved families, apologizing for the parts in which we failed to anticipate their feelings in advance, and working to resolve the issue," and "We will pay more careful attention to overall program production going forward and will strengthen internal review and production processes. Once again, we deeply apologize."
Earlier, 'Fate War 49' dealt with a mission that speculated on the cause of death of the late firefighter Kim Cheol-hong, who died in the line of duty while rescuing citizens in a fire in Hongje-dong, Seoul, in 2001. In the process, the deceased's face and date of birth were disclosed, and the bereaved families protested, saying "contrary to explanations that honored their noble sacrifice, only sensational expressions were exchanged," provoking strong criticism.
Moreover, in the same episode, during the process of addressing the circumstances of the death of the late Sergeant Lee Jae-hyun, a cast member used the criminal slang term 'kalppang' and Jun Hyun-moo mentioned it as is while Shin Dong agreed, causing controversy.
