A millionaire who returned the money he made from the air conditioner business to a senior town, Park Se-hoon, the man who built the "200 billion won senior town," appears on Neighboring Millionaire.
On Wed., Feb. 25 at 9:55 p.m., EBS's Seo Jang-hoon's Neighboring Millionaire will reveal the tumultuous life story of chairman Park Se-hoon, who built an "urban senior town" with a brand value of 200 billion won on a 2,000-pyeong site in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
Park Se-hoon became the first in Korea to design a senior town and nursing facility in one building, taking responsibility for seniors' safety, health and a dignified life.
In particular, he is a self-made entrepreneur who devoted 40 years to the air conditioner heat exchanger business, achieving annual sales of up to 140 billion won. However, under the firm philosophy that "I will not take a single penny of profit from the senior town," Park Se-hoon poured the money he earned from the air conditioner business into the senior town without hesitation. His decision to return the lifetime of success he built to society and the tearful stories tied to it will be revealed through the broadcast.
The broadcast will for the first time reveal the interior of the senior town, where a total of 230 households and about 300 people live.
A variety of living spaces are introduced, from a cozy standard unit of about 16 pyeong to an expanded 25-pyeong unit. In addition, customized consideration points installed throughout with careful attention to elders' safety and convenience are expected to draw attention. Not only that, diverse community facilities such as a karaoke room, fitness center, library and health care center, along with a dining hall that provides balanced meals, are revealed, showing seniors' vibrant daily lives and the true face of high-quality residential environments. While touring the site, Jang Ye-won brightly smiles and says, "I'm very interested in the senior town—can I make a reservation now?"
Above all, the senior town is revealed to hold special meaning for Seo Jang-hoon, drawing attention. Seo Jang-hoon begins by saying, "Actually, until two years ago my maternal grandmother lived here," revealing his heavy feelings. In response, Park Se-hoon recalled vividly, "Seo Jang-hoon's grandmother was always neat and lively. Every morning she would come down to the lobby and when she saw me she would give me a high five as if checking my attendance at work," sharing lively memories. At the anecdote about his maternal grandmother, Seo Jang-hoon also smiles and says, "She originally had a very strong personality."
But he soon cannot hold back his tears at the unexpected traces of his maternal grandmother he encounters in the senior town and at Park Se-hoon's heartfelt words that "she was also a very precious elder to us."
