Actor Kim Gyuri and DJ DOC member Lee Ha-neul expressed indignation saying "the district office came to enforce regulations" after singing one song at a gopchang restaurant.
Kim Gyuri recently posted on social media that she visited a gopchang restaurant in Seoul and held a meetup with subscribers of her personal YouTube channel "Kim Gyuri tv Mopsi".
The gopchang restaurant is operated by DJ DOC's Lee Ha-neul and Jeong Jae-yong, and Kim Gyuri uploaded a roughly 20-minute video to her personal channel saying, "With DJ DOC! I met Mopsi subscribers~". In addition, short videos showed the three—DJ DOC and Kim Gyuri—cheerfully singing "Run To You" at the restaurant under the title "surprise concert at OO gopchang".
However, some internet users who saw the video reported Lee Ha-neul's gopchang restaurant to the district office, saying "they violated the Food Sanitation Act," and Lee Ha-neul expressed some frustration during a personal live broadcast on social media.
According to Korea's Food Sanitation Act, ordinary restaurants must not have sound equipment and allow customers to sing or dance. If the rules are violated, the first penalty is a one-month business suspension, the second is a two-month business suspension, and the third may result in revocation of the business permit or closure of the business.
In Lee Ha-neul's case, it was an impromptu event conducted as fan service, but some internet users reported DJ DOC's gopchang restaurant to the district office for violating the Food Sanitation Act.
Regarding this, Lee Ha-neul said, "Kim Gyuri reserved and paid for the entire seating because she wanted to treat her fan club people," and "Kim Gyuri, as fan service, asked 'oppa, please sing one song' so I sang. Kim Gyuri got excited and, as a kind of fan service, just did this bounce dance once," he said.
He added, "People on the other side took that one scene of Kim Gyuri and, seeing me (because our political leanings differ), there are people who want to kill me and they made many reports. Kim Gyuri, excited at being asked to sing one song, danced, and they reported that one scene. It's not illegal business and this isn't a place where we operate business like that, but the district office came to enforce regulations," he claimed, expressing his grievance.
Meanwhile, Kim Gyuri gave a strong performance last year in the film The Pact, which dealt with a story reminiscent of a former president and his spouse, and Lee Ha-neul recently met audiences with the "Young Forty Club Party" concert.
