Comedian Nam Chang Hee has joined the ranks of married men, and the real-life beauty of his wife, known as "Han River Police IU" Yoon Young Kyung, is drawing attention.
Nam Chang Hee held a wedding on the 22nd at the Dynasty Hall of the Shilla Hotel in Jangchung-dong, Seoul, with a non-celebrity partner nine years his junior.
The two are reported to have consummated their relationship after about four years of dating, the ceremony was hosted by a fellow comedian, and singers Youngtak and Lee Juck performed congratulatory songs that further heated the venue.
Park Myung Soo, who attended the wedding, shared vivid anecdotes the next day on KBS Cool FM's Park Myung Soo's Radio Show. He opened with his trademark wit, saying, "I stayed until the end and had a meal, but I was so full I couldn't eat dessert," and praised the bride's beauty, saying, "The bride-in-law is so beautiful that all the guests were surprised." He added, "The live congratulatory songs were so good that I almost cried; you couldn't even joke around at the wedding. It was a truly happy and beautiful wedding after a long time."
Afterward, interest grew when it was revealed that Nam Chang Hee's wife had appeared on MBC's Infinite Challenge in the past and earned the nickname "Han River Police IU," identifying her as actress Yoon Young Kyung. Yoon Young Kyung became known after winning runner-up at the 2013 national Chunhyang contest, appeared in the film Ode to My Father, and drew attention for a pure visual resemblance to IU when she appeared on the Infinite Challenge "Hongchul, let's get married" special.
Online reactions such as "Nam Chang Hee made a good marriage" and "Her real-life beauty is at a celebrity level" have been posted, along with joking comments like "Shouldn't Nam Chang Hee pay more taxes at this point?", spreading a celebratory mood.
