Actor Park Jin Hee spoke about her efforts to portray her character in "Red Pearl."
On the morning of the 23rd, KBS2's new daily drama "Red Pearl" held an online production presentation that was broadcast live. Director Kim Seong-geun and actors Park Jin Hee, Nam Sang-ji, Choi Jae-seong, Kim Hee-jeong, Kim Kyung-bo, Kang Da Bin, and Cheon Hee-ju attended the presentation and talked about the show.
"Red Pearl" is a drama that depicts a revenge chronicle in which two women who return under false identities uncover the sins and truths hidden in the Adele family. In the drama, Park Jin Hee plays Kim Dan-hee, who vows revenge after witnessing her sister's death in the past and lives under the name of her twin sister, Kim Myeong-hee.
Returning to the small screen after four years with a revenge drama, Park Jin Hee, when asked why she chose the project, said she chose it because "the role itself has a tremendous narrative. I had the desire to try acting out a very large narrative. And when they told me it was a revenge drama, I thought it might be the clichéd revenge story you see in daily dramas. But as I read it, the details and how the characters constantly suspect each other and try to uncover what is true made it almost like a thriller, and it was a script that kept the viewer wanting to see the next chapter and kept your chest tight wondering how the truth would be revealed to the end. I thought it would be great if I could participate, so I chose it," she said.
She said, "While filming, because daily dramas have a lot of footage, you can absorb that volume and immerse yourself more deeply in the character. The more footage, the more events and lines there are, right? So you become much more immersed in the character, you dream about it at night and lines just come to you and you imagine how situations will play out. Whether those things will be written into the script or not, I don't know. I became so immersed that that happened," showing her exceptional passion, and when people around her reacted by asking, "Is it scissors?" she responded, "Is it scissors?" which drew laughter.
Regarding the charms of Kim Dan-hee and Kim Myeong-hee, she said, "They are the same but very different characters. They have different appearances, so I thought a lot about how to differentiate their intonation, speech, and facial expressions. Like the phrase 'a complete transformation' where even the bones change. That would make them seem like different people, but figuring out how to express that was a very difficult start to the 고민, though it was also fun and thrilling. Recently I went to the editing room because I was so curious about how it was expressed, and I watched it. I thought it turned out better than I expected, so seeing things like 'yes, it's okay' and 'not bad' made me feel satisfied that it came out as well as I had worried about."
Meanwhile, "Red Pearl" premieres today (the 23rd) at 7:50 p.m.
