Comedian Hong Yun-hwa succeeded in completing her first marathon after losing 40kg.
On the 21st, Hong Yun-hwa posted on her social media, "I succeeded in my first marathon! Me with a marathon medal," announcing her participation in the race.
She added, "I thought I'd just get in before they closed the gates! This is the fastest I've ever finished," and "Thank you to my fellow runners who kept cheering and shouting "fighting" while running with me! Praise me," she said in an emotional remark.
Photos released together showed Hong Yun-hwa participating in the "2026 youth relay marathon" with her husband Kim Min-gi. Hong Yun-hwa drew attention by sharing a record showing she completed the 5km course in 47 minutes 44 seconds.
In particular, her more streamlined appearance after she declared it would be her last diet in life and combined diet and exercise for about nine months, losing a full 40kg, caught the eye. That dieting process was also revealed on SBS's "Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny."
On the same day, a video titled "Hong Yun-hwa marathon race footage! (not edited)" was posted on the YouTube channel "Hong Yun-hwa Kim Min-gi Kongnyang-kongnyang." In the video, Hong Yun-hwa said, "I'm nervous. I can't come in last," revealing her tension, but she didn't give up and ran to the end, safely crossing the finish line amid her husband Kim Min-gi's cheers.
After finishing, Hong Yun-hwa eased her hunger with a red bean bun and enjoyed the joy of her challenge with a mukbang of thinly sliced pork belly, wearing a bright smile.
