Drama "To My Beloved Thief" saw actor Song Ji-ho, who made a strong impression on viewers with his all-around performance that swung between comedy and serious drama, share heartfelt reflections.
Song Ji-ho invigorated the drama as Hong Dae-il, the older brother of Hong Eun-jo (Nam Ji-hyun) and a hapless young master specialized in failing exams. In particular, scenes such as scolding Grand Prince I-yeol (Moon Sang Min) after mistaking him for a thief without knowing his identity, or boasting that his own physiognomy is a "faithful Jindo dog face," delivered big laughs to viewers and thoroughly proved his credentials as a scene-stealer.
Not content to be a simple comic character, Song Ji-ho added weight to the drama with a twist of deep family love in his performance. The "heartbreaking lament" scene in which he sobs in front of his father Hong Min-jik's (Kim Seok-hoon) death brought tears to viewers' eyes, and he drew praise for his acting by delicately portraying a three-dimensional arc in which the immature older brother grows into a dependable son who tries to protect the family.
At the end of the series, Song Ji-ho said, "Meeting the character Hong Dae-il and sharing times of crying and laughing together was a great gift to me," and added warm thanks, saying, "Thanks to the director, writers, fellow actors who worked hard on set, and the viewers who cherished 'To My Beloved Thief' until the end, I was able to happily complete the journey."
Song Ji-ho has made his presence felt through a variety of works. In hit dramas such as "Doctor Cha," "Lovely Runner," "Never Give Up," and "Stranger," he was loved for his distinctive colors in each work, and in "To My Beloved Thief" he again proved a wide acting spectrum, further solidifying his position as a reliable actor viewers can trust.
