Right-wing YouTuber Jeon Han-gil, a former Korean history instructor, announced that he would host a concert to mark March 1, and several singers whose names appeared on the performers list quickly said they would not participate, saying they had not been informed of the event's purpose.
Right-wing YouTuber Jeon Han-gil said on the 20th during a live broadcast on his YouTube channel that he would hold a 'March 1 commemoration free concert.' He said, "Among ourselves we'll say 'the right wing is not tired' and within this we should shout 'Yoon again,' shouldn't we?" and said the concert had the character of a rally.
Later Jeon Han-gil released the concert poster, which caught attention because it listed names including master of ceremonies announcer Lee Jae-yong, singers Taejin-ah, Bank, soprano Jung Chan-hee, and Jung Min-chan. Jeon Han-gil referred to the lineup of performers as "conservative right-wing entertainers" and added, "It might be good to give these people a chance to perform."
After the news spread, the singers listed on the poster sequentially announced they would not participate. They said they had not been informed in advance that the event had a political purpose. On the 22nd, Taejin-ah's agency, Jina Entertainment, rebutted, "Singer Taejin-ah will not perform at the March 1 commemoration free concert, which is reportedly to be held on March 2 at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, hosted by the YouTube channel 'Jeon Han-gil News.'" The agency added, "We will take strong legal action regarding the matter in which an event official lied to deceive Taejin-ah by inquiring about her schedule and then unilaterally treated her participation as a done deal."
According to the agency, an entertainment industry official visited Taejin-ah's Itaewon cafe a few days earlier and asked, "Can you appear at an event at KINTEX at 2 p.m. on March 2?" and Taejin-ah reportedly replied, "The schedule could be possible." The agency said, "Because local elections are approaching, we questioned whether it might be a political event, and were told, 'It's just a regular event held at KINTEX.' The next day, an event poster featuring Taejin-ah's photo spread on social media, and we learned that the YouTube channel 'Jeon Han-gil News' was saying Taejin-ah would perform at the concert. It was utterly absurd and shocking, so we requested correction from the official, but the poster had already spread online, and as of the 22nd 'Jeon Han-gil News' is still saying Taejin-ah will appear at the event," expressing grievance.
The agency said, "It is entirely untrue that Taejin-ah agreed to perform at the event, and we will file a complaint and charge the person who asked about her schedule under false pretenses and then treated her participation as a done deal with defamation." The agency added, "We are also preparing legal action against 'Jeon Han-gil News' for using Taejin-ah's photo without permission on a YouTube broadcast without verifying the facts." It emphasized, "We have received numerous offers from political circles over the years but have never accepted any, and we have no intention of appearing at political events in the future."
Announcer Lee Jae-yong also told Yonhap News, "Although it is a March 1 commemoration concert organized by the conservative camp, I was told I was only being asked to host the music portion, so there would be no problem," but he explained, "There was no mention that Mr. Jeon was associated with the event." He added, "When I recognized the nature of the event the day before, I immediately contacted the organizer and said I could not host it, and I asked that my name be removed from the poster. The organizer said they would take action this morning." He defended himself, saying, "Extremely right- or left-wing events are outside my scope, so I do not participate at all. If the organizer had informed me that the event had an extreme right-wing character or was associated with Mr. Jeon, I would not have accepted hosting the event."
On the 22nd, Jung Chan-hee posted on social media, "I decided not to appear at this performance and wasn't saying anything separately, but because many people have been contacting me I'm posting this. I will not appear at this performance," and said, "I was asked verbally to appear at the March 1 concert and decided to appear, but a friend sent me this poster two days ago and I learned about it. I contacted them and decided not to appear," directly announcing his withdrawal.
On the 23rd Jung Min-chan wrote, "It seems I caused worry to my fans and acquaintances. It is true I was offered to appear, but I was not told about the purpose and I knew it only as a March 1 commemoration event. I only just learned that a poster was produced without any notice. I have no connection or interest in this event. Don't worry because I will not appear," drawing a line, and Bank posted a video on the 'Bank Channel' on the 23rd titled "2026/03/02 KINTEX event controversy summarized!!" and flatly said, "In conclusion, I learned that it is a political event and will not appear."
Bank said, "It's the same on that side as on this side. If the request to make music were pure, I would perform whether on this side or that side, but the planning team here failed to explain parts that should have been explained in advance. Because of that I declined to perform. What angered me was reading that post. They talk about extreme right wing, but I wish they wouldn't talk carelessly and assume things before I state my political views myself," and said, "The Bank Channel is entirely nonpolitical. If political topics come up, I block them unconditionally," expressing his stance.
Despite the performers cutting ties, Jeon Han-gil blamed the current administration and said he would not bend. He posted on the 'Jeon Han-gil Channel,' "Nevertheless, I will not give up. In support of President Yoon, who was arrested last year, like at the Aug. 15 free concert, this concert will gather free patriotic conservative citizens to show resistance to the life sentence, and if no one comes I will shout 'Yoon again' at the top of my lungs even by myself," he said.
Jeon Han-gil's legal representative explained regarding allegations that the event's purpose was concealed, "The entire range of execution tasks, including recruiting singers and producing promotional materials (posters), was outside our authority and was carried out entirely by the agency contracted for that purpose," and clarified, "Jeon Han-gil News was not directly involved in communication errors during recruitment or the circumstances of poster production."
