Actor Kim Hee-jeong lamented the hardship of having a "homewrecker" image.
On the morning of the 23rd, KBS2's new daily drama "Red Pearl" held an online production presentation that was broadcast live. Director Kim Seong-geun and actors Park Jin Hee, Nam Sang-ji, Choi Jae-seong, Kim Hee-jeong , Kim Kyung-bo, Kang Da Bin, and Cheon Hee-ju attended the presentation and talked.
"Red Pearl" is a drama that depicts the revenge chronicle of two women who return under false identities and expose the sins and truth hidden in the Adel family. In the work, Kim Hee-jeong plays Oh Jeong-ran, the wife of Park Tae-ho (played by Choi Jae-seong) and director of the Adel Gallery.
Kim Hee-jeong said she chose the role because "I thought it was an epic villain, but it has a bit of a sitcom vibe. There are a few people who are the axis of evil and a few who are the axis of good. It's been a while since I played a villain, and in a way I thought it might be an opportunity for a transformation in my acting, so I chose it."
Regarding preparation for the character, she said, "First, I had to look mean visually, be flashy, and find a style different from the usual Kim Hee-jeong . I paid attention to that. If you look closely, I even put a beauty mark. It didn't look that mean. I thought, let's at least put a mark, so I did. Also, since there is a lot of physical work, I'm trying to exercise harder than usual."
When asked whether she wanted to gain a descriptive title through the work, Kim Hee-jeong said, "In this work I'm the legitimate wife. The concubine is sitting over there (Park Jin Hee). Everyone tells me I look like the concubine and that the image of a homewrecker is strong. This time I want to gain the epithet 'jogangjicheo' not 'jogangjicheop'." she said, expressing her distress and drawing laughter.
Meanwhile, "Red Pearl" will premiere today (the 23rd) at 7:50 p.m.
