Comedian Kim Suyong recalled the time he stood at the crossroads of life and death after cardiac arrest and expressed the hurt he felt toward his juniors.
Recently on the YouTube channel "Jodongari," Kim Suyong said, "When I collapsed, Inseok sent a text and came to my house, but Seongho didn't contact me." He said it with a laugh, but given that it was a "near-death" situation, the comment carried a trace of hurt.
Yoon Seongho hurriedly explained that he was studying English in Cebu at the time and "couldn't check his phone often because the internet was poor." But Kim Yong Man replied, "No service? What is this, a labor camp?" and the scene erupted in laughter. Yoon Seongho added, "The Wi-Fi works, but if I get absorbed in class I can't check it," and when it was revealed that he had contacted him belatedly, the mood was warmly settled.
Kim Suyong's remarks drew more attention as they coincided with earlier reports of his serious health condition. He suffered an acute myocardial infarction and experienced cardiac arrest; after multiple rounds of CPR and defibrillation, he barely regained consciousness. At the time, his breathing did not return for more than 30 minutes, and medical staff and those around him reportedly went through a tense period.
Afterward, Kim Suyong told other content that "after going through that, the frantic feelings I used to have greatly diminished," revealing a changed mindset. He also recounted meeting his deceased parents in a dream two days before the cardiac arrest, saying, "It felt natural, as if we were just living together," a recollection that moved listeners.
Meanwhile, Kim Suyong personally visited the paramedic who saved him to express his gratitude. It was reported as a miraculous recovery after multiple defibrillations and drug administrations, and people reportedly even called it "divine luck."
Reactions have continued that one could glimpse long-standing friendship in Kim Suyong's current condition, which frankly revealed both affection for his colleagues and playful hurt after an experience that crossed the threshold of death.
