Actor Han Ga-kyung will appear on stage in the play "R&J".
Han Ga-kyung has confirmed her participation in the play "R&J," which will be performed at Upstage in Daehak-ro from Feb. 26 to March 8, and will meet audiences.
The play "R&J" is not simply a reproduction of Shakespeare's classic "Romeo and Juliet." The story unfolds as four students under strict discipline secretly read the banned classic. Through the classic, the work sharply questions youthful desire and repression and issues of identity.
In the play, Han Ga-kyung takes on a role that delicately portrays an individual's inner changes and emotional waves. Within symbolic and body-centered direction, she is expected to present an intense stage. In this production, which completes scenes with minimal stage props and only actors' movements, she is likely to lead the play's core with dense breathing and concentration.
Han Ga-kyung, who was Miss Korea Jeonbuk in 2022, is an actress who combines a graceful image with stage presence; she graduated from Dongguk University's Department of Theater, solidly grounding her in acting theory and practice. Afterwards, through short-form dramas "The Actress Is a Cat" and "Mother's Man," she showcased natural emotional lines and character interpretation skills, gaining recognition for her acting ability.
Through this stage, she promises another transformation in acting with a deeper emotional line and energy. A representative said, "Han Ga-kyung's concentration and delicacy will meet R&J's aesthetics and create a strong synergy."
"R&J" is characterized by a minimal stage design that uses a red cloth as a symbolic object and direction focused on actors' physical language. It is expected to be a work that generates different rhythms and energies at each performance amid the density and tension of collective creation.
