Former announcer and broadcaster Lee Jae-yong denied reports that he would host a performance related to far-right YouTuber Jeon Han-gil.
Earlier, far-right YouTuber Jeon Han-gil announced the holding of a "March 1 remembrance free concert" on his YouTube channel live broadcast on the 20th.
The poster released with the announcement included content saying that Lee Jae-yong would serve as host and that Taejin-ah and several other singers would perform, drawing attention.
On the 22nd, Taejin-ah's side issued an official statement saying, "Singer Taejin-ah will not appear at the March 1 remembrance free concert reportedly to be held on March 2 at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, hosted by the YouTube channel 'Jeon Han-gil News.'"
Taejin-ah's side explained that through an entertainment industry contact they received a request asking whether she could appear at the event on that date and asked whether it was a political event, but were told it was a general event.
They added, "It is completely untrue that Taejin-ah agreed to appear at the event, and we plan to sue and press charges for defamation against the contact who inquired about the schedule after lying that a political event was a general event," and emphasized, "We are also preparing legal action against 'Jeon Han-gil News' for using Taejin-ah's photo without permission on its YouTube broadcast without confirming the facts."
Lee Jae-yong, who was reported to be hosting, also raised his voice in a telephone interview with The Munhwa Ilbo Company that day, saying he would not host and asked for the poster to be taken down. Lee Jae-yong also said he believed it was a March 1 concert and had no intention of participating in a political event.
