Model Baek Jin-kyung candidly discussed her experience working as a model in the U.K. and the reality of her income.
On the 21st, a video titled 'The honorary Brit who taught walking and left three challenges' was released on model Jang Yoon-joo's YouTube channel Yoonjure Jang Yoon-joo. In the video, Baek Jin-kyung, who is active on social media under the character 'honorary Brit,' appeared.
Jang Yoon-joo asked Baek Jin-kyung, "Are you actively working as a model in the U.K.?" Baek Jin-kyung replied, "Until recently, I was." When asked the reason, she hesitated for a moment and made a 'money' gesture with her hand. When Jang Yoon-joo reacted, "In London?" Baek Jin-kyung said, "You all probably know. It's not as much as you think," noting that pay levels in the local modeling industry can differ from expectations.
Baek Jin-kyung then described her areas of activity. She said, "I've never formally learned walking. I have worked more on commercial shoots than runway shows." To this, Jang Yoon-joo advised, "I think places will start seeking you for stage work in the future. It might be good to learn walking."
After the video was released, various reactions followed in the comment section. Comments included, "She probably would walk well; I'd like to see her on shows too," "I thought she would be more comfortable financially since she worked in London, but that's surprising," and "It feels more relatable because it's realistic."
Baek Jin-kyung is active under the nickname 'honorary Brit' and has more than 1.5 million subscribers. Based in the U.K., she continues her work as a plus-size model and is expanding her activities through broadcasting and online content.<
