Broadcaster Lee Seong-mi opened up about an experience in which she felt deeply betrayed by her family.
On the 21st episode of MBN's "Sokpulisho Dongchimi", they discussed the topic 'Close people are the scariest BEST5'. During the conversation, the topic of 'moments of feeling betrayed by family' came up, and Lee Seong-mi drew attention by saying, "I was really hurt once."
Lee Seong-mi recalled when she had cancer surgery 13 years ago, saying, "When I had cancer and was discharged from the hospital, they said that after discharge, if I were to have radiation therapy or things like that, I should stay away from my family as much as possible."
She said, "So I was separated, and it became dinnertime. When it's dinnertime, aren't you hungry? Patients are hungry too. Then shouldn't someone ask? 'Mom, what do you want to eat?' Isn't that something you should ask? But they didn't ask. Even though it was mealtime. Then I could hear whispering from the other dining table. I don't eat chicken. (My husband) said, 'Hey, mom is lying down, right? Should we order chicken?'"
The panelists sympathized, saying, "That's disappointing," and Kim Yong Man sadly remarked, "The rest of the family are trying to comfort you, though." In response, Lee Seong-mi said, "They whisper that they're trying to comfort me, but it sounds so loud. The sound of chicken is like chickens flying around. The kids say, 'Shall we do that, Dad?' and at that moment I felt so sad," conveying her feelings at the time.
The panelists all agreed, saying, "That's upsetting," and Lee Seong-mi said, "What is that to me. After that they came to my room and the door was open this much. They closed the door like this so the smell wouldn't get in, and then suddenly I could hear rustling sounds over there so clearly. Then what I thought was, 'If I die, I'll be the only one who loses.' That incident made me decide 'I have to live,'" she revealed.
Then Kim Jang Hoon suggested, "Sister, if we want to get revenge, let's meet in a few days and eat our lobster," and Lee Seong-mi replied, "Okay. I'll buy it. What's life anyway," prompting laughter.
