Group Blackpink proved its unmatched presence by becoming the first artist in the world to reach 100 million YouTube subscribers ahead of the release of its new album.
According to YG Entertainment on the 21st, Blackpink's YouTube channel surpassed 100 million subscribers at about 7:31 p.m. the previous day. This is the first and largest record among all artists worldwide and came about 9 years and 8 months after the Blackpink channel was created on June 28, 2016.
In particular, the subscriber growth accelerated sharply after the start of promotion for mini album 3 [DEADLINE]. In fact, starting with the announcement video released on the 15th of last month, about 10,000 new subscribers were added per day on average, revealing global fans' extraordinary anticipation for the new musical world they will unveil.
On YouTube, which is driving changes in the global music market landscape, subscriber count is considered an indicator of a highly loyal fandom's interest. It is a point that confirms Blackpink's fandom expansion is still continuing even though they have already established themselves as a top global group.
Earlier, Blackpink became the first non-English-language artist to rank in the top five for YouTube subscribers in July 2020. They then passed well-known pop stars such as Ariana Grande, Eminem, Ed Sheeran, Marshmello and Justin Bieber in sequence, reached No. 1 among global artists in September 2021, and have maintained the throne to this day.
View counts are also overwhelming. Blackpink has produced 50 videos with over 100 million views on YouTube to date, and the official YouTube channel's cumulative views reach 41.1 billion. These achievements were officially recorded by Guinness World Records as the band with the most views on YouTube.
Blackpink will release mini album 3 [DEADLINE] at 2 p.m. on the 27th (Korean time). The album features a total of five tracks, including the title track "GO" and pre-release songs "Jump ( 뛰어(JUMP) )", "Me and my", "Champion" and "Fxxxboy". YG said the album would be filled, as the title [DEADLINE] suggests, with "irretrievable greatest moments" and "Blackpink's present shining the brightest at this moment."
