'Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant' oldest of 13 siblings Nam Bo-ra delivered a tearful handwritten letter to her mother.
On the afternoon of the 20th, KBS 2TV 'Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant' (hereafter 'Fun-Staurant') revealed the joyful and heartwarming daily life of Nam Bo-ra, the eldest of 13 siblings and the "Kongal-i mom," and Kim Kangwoo, a devoted husband who would do anything for his wife. The family love-filled stories of the two chef households enthralled special MC trot prince Kim Yong Bin. It was truly a program that encouraged marriage and childbirth.
That day Nam Bo-ra visited an obstetrics and gynecology clinic with her mother to hear the results of a checkup to see if the baby was growing well and to undergo an important test. Nervously going into the examination room with her mother, Nam Bo-ra was relieved to hear that the baby was growing healthily. She also saw images of the rapidly growing baby on the ultrasound and heard the baby's heartbeat.
It was not only Nam Bo-ra who was moved by the baby's growth. Nam Bo-ra's mother, who had visited obstetrics and gynecology countless times raising 13 children, also had reddened eyes. To honor the daughter who suffered morning sickness and the first grandchild "Kongal-i," Nam Bo-ra's mother even flexed with wild pine mushrooms to make a special restorative dish. In particular, she attracted attention by revealing the secret recipe from the hugely successful restaurant that fed her 13 children.
A childbirth talk between Nam Bo-ra and her mother continued. Nam Bo-ra's mother said she gave birth to all 13 children through natural delivery. Hearing what must have been an extremely difficult childbirth story from her mother, Nam Bo-ra choked up. Nam Bo-ra's mother said, "(To my 13 children) you are all children I exchanged for my life." Understanding her mother's feelings a little more, Nam Bo-ra responded by eating her mother's food more deliciously than anyone else.
Afterward, Nam Bo-ra revealed the handwritten letter she had written to her mother. The letter contained Nam Bo-ra's sincere words: "Since becoming pregnant I think of Mom more," and "How hard it must have been to give birth to and raise 13 children with a body smaller than mine. As time passed and I became an expectant mother, I can now see the small back of my mother who was bravely enduring at that time." She also regretted and cried over past times when she had been angry with her mother when the 13th youngest sibling was born. Moved by her daughter's sincerity, Nam Bo-ra's mother and viewers shed tears together.
Meanwhile that day Nam Bo-ra revealed the presidential citation she received thanks to volunteer work she has consistently done since her debut. Nam Bo-ra said she even met her current husband while volunteering. In fact, Nam Bo-ra's volunteer work began after learning it from her mother. The mother and daughter, who enjoy the joy of sharing across generations, created a warm scene.
Devoted chef Kim Kangwoo surprised viewers by saying he has helped with kimchi-making at his in-laws' house every year for 22 years, from his dating days before marriage to the present. Taking on tough jobs such as digging, Kim Kangwoo showed himself as a dependable son-in-law and revealed recipes for "gabrisal salted boiled pork" and "life-crispy kimchi pancake" that make his mother-in-law's kimchi taste even better. In particular, Kim Kangwoo's "unnecessary recipe" once again drew reactions predicting another hit.
Trot crown prince Kim Yong Bin, who joined as special MC that day, was deeply immersed in the VCR and displayed a variety of reactions. Seeing Nam Bo-ra's daily life he said, "It makes you want to get married," and explosively said, "(If you get married) four kids?!" Regarding Kim Kangwoo's daily life, he said he learned various tips on how to become a beloved son-in-law, provoking laughter.
