Pregnant actress Nam Bo-ra has drawn sympathy as a high-risk expectant mother, and her mother, who gave birth to 13 children, also worried about her daughter's health. On Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant, the child's nuchal translucency test was passed safely.
On the broadcast of KBS 2TV's variety show Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant on the 20th, Nam Bo-ra was shown spending her daily life with her mother during pregnancy.
At the time of filming, Nam Bo-ra was past three months pregnant and had to have an ultrasound. As a high-risk expectant mother, she headed to the hospital with her mother to see Kongal-i (the fetal nickname). She had already undergone various tests and watched the nuchal translucency test on the ultrasound. Only after hearing the doctor say, "Fortunately, there is nothing wrong with our baby," did Nam Bo-ra show a relieved smile.
To Nam Bo-ra's mother, who had given birth to as many as 13 children, a grandchild was a first, unlike her many children. Regarding her mother, who was moved throughout the ultrasound, Nam Bo-ra laughed and said, "When I first asked my mom to come to the obstetrician with me, she didn't seem interested. But when she actually went, it was different. She liked it a lot."
After safely completing the test and returning home, Nam Bo-ra enjoyed the joy of receiving the presidential citation that had been delivered, together with her mother. The citation was also the result of devoting herself to volunteer activities, following her mother. Her husband also met her through volunteer work. Nam Bo-ra's mother said with pride, "When you volunteer, the good feeling lasts a long time."
In addition, her mother prepared a restorative dish herself for her pregnant daughter. The tub she used often while feeding 13 children reappeared, and the well-like pot filled with hanwoo broth drew admiration. Her mother personally bought 450,000 won worth of wild matsutake, which cost 50,000 won each, and brought them to make a hanwoo and matsutake restorative dish just for Nam Bo-ra.
While the broth was boiling, her mother also shared her unique experience of giving birth to 13 children. She began, "None of the 13 children was born easily." She continued, "At the time of the first birth, the national health insurance system was being established, so the delivery cost was about 450,000 won in those days. Now it costs about 2 million won. You, the second child, were born with health insurance for 80,000 won. So my husband says the child who cost the least is the most filial." she also laughed.
Above all, she said, "From the third child, due to the birth control policy, health insurance benefits were not available. I paid about 480,000 won again. From the third child, I was a high-risk expectant mother, so I had to go to a general hospital to give birth. But every time we entered the delivery room, they made the guardian sign a consent form saying that if uterine contractions did not occur and bleeding worsened, a hysterectomy would be necessary. They said the more children you give birth to, the less the uterus contracts and the more dangerous it becomes. You children are the ones I exchanged for my life," she emphasized.
At last, the restorative meal featuring the secret recipe of Nam Bo-ra's mother, who had even run a restaurant, was completed with beef hot pot and cold salad. Nam Bo-ra expressed deep satisfaction, saying, "During pregnancy I craved sour things like this. It's perfect," and "I didn't know when I had morning sickness, but after it ended I wanted my mom's food so much." She even joked, "After eating this I'll immediately prepare for the second child."
Her mother took out the Polaroid photos taken at the hospital right after Nam Bo-ra was born and reminisced. Nam Bo-ra also showed tears as she read the letter she had written to her mother in the maternity record book. Singer Kim Yong Bin, who appeared as a special guest, replied, "You make me want to get married too," adding warmth. <
