Actor Kim Kangwoo showed he is a loving husband and son-in-law who even helps with his in-laws' kimchi-making on Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant.
On the Feb. 20 broadcast of KBS 2TV entertainment program Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant, Kim Kangwoo revealed his daily life.
That day on Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant, Kim Kangwoo headed to Deoksan, Chungcheongnam-do, where his in-laws live. There, every year Kim Kangwoo's in‑laws and extended family gather to make 200 heads of kimchi together. Kim Kangwoo also took part. He mixed the kimchi filling with a shovel and helped by stirring porridge in a cauldron with one hand.
Kim Kangwoo said, "I have been married for 16 years, but I dated for eight years. From about two years into dating I followed the kimchi-making, so I have been helping my in‑laws' kimchi for 22 years, even before marriage," which surprised viewers. He said calmly, "I went with simple intentions: to have a date and, as a man, to do some heavy work."
In a covert phone call with the Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant production team, his actual wife said, "My husband went to kimchi-making as my porter since we were dating. My husband worries a lot. He worries whether I drive well, things like that. He never lets me carry heavy things alone. He also carries my bag because of that. When my grandmother was alive and I was very shy, he still brought walnut pastries to my maternal grandmother. He is very good to my mother. He always brings bouquets," she said.
Kim Kangwoo added warmly with a joke, "My mother-in-law's kimchi is delicious. I think I married because I fell for the kimchi."
Meanwhile, Kim Kangwoo is married to Han Hye-jin's older sister Han Moo-young and they have two sons.
