Japanese model and Choo Sung Hoon's wife Yano Shiho recalled the time she auditioned in the past.
On the 20th, a video titled "Yano Shiho's full story of moving to Tokyo for the first time (ft. tearful first audition, regular udon shop)" was uploaded to the YouTube channel 'YanoShiho YanoShiho'.
On that day, Yano Shiho visited Sangenjaya, where her first life in Tokyo began. When the production team asked, "This is the neighborhood you first came to when you moved to Tokyo. How did you feel when you first moved here?" she replied, "I was scared. I was a little on guard."
She added, "But I was like a sponge. I absorbed many things without knowing anything. There were schools, companies, work, and a boyfriend, so I adapted to a busy life."
Then Yano Shiho joked, "There was no curfew here and it was freestyle. It was really fun."
When asked if she remembered her very first audition, Yano Shiho recalled, "I went around to publishers and took many TV commercial auditions, but I failed many. Modeling is about photos, but TV commercial auditions had camera tests like in movies, so if you couldn't act you couldn't do it. That was really embarrassing, and even if I tried hard I couldn't pass."
She continued, "But as I did it, I gradually got closer to being the final one. I somehow started to change. At 23 I appeared in a yogurt commercial and it was a hit. From there I burst out. It felt like 'finally made it.'"
The production team then asked, "As a model, when did you feel like you were 'starting to succeed'?"
Yano Shiho said, "I cut my hair around 23, and at that time there was a very famous charismatic hairstylist. So I had my hair cut at that person's salon. After cutting my hair I shot a cover with the feeling of 'wanting to become Shiho,' and on the cover of MORE magazine, the Shiho bob look became so popular that everyone went to salons and said, 'Please give me the Shiho bob cut.' It was a huge trend."
At the time, the magazine 'non-no' that featured top stars was famous, but Yano Shiho said she received an offer to appear in MORE and shot for it, gaining popularity there. Yano Shiho boasted, "Not only me but other models came out too, and they said they wanted the Shiho bob cut. After that, I did many cover shoots for MORE."
Yano Shiho, who said it took five years to explode in popularity, held back tears as she told her past self, "I want to tell you that really fun things will happen a lot."
