Actors Jung Yi-chan, Baek Seora, An Woo Yeon, Joo Se bin, Cheon Young-min, Song Ji In, Jeon No-min and Gee Young-san have confirmed appearances in TV CHOSUN's new weekend mini-series "Doctor Shin," leading the new "Phoebe-style universe."
TV CHOSUN's new weekend mini-series "Doctor Shin," which is scheduled to premiere on Mar. 14 (Sat.) at 10:30 p.m. (written by Phoebe (Phoebe, Im Seong-han), directed by Lee Seung-hoon, produced by Scene & Studio, TMI Group), is a medical thriller about a genius doctor who challenges the realm of the divine and a woman whose brain is damaged overnight and is losing her soul. "Doctor Shin" presents a provocative narrative that crosses love and desire, taboos and sacrifice through a strange romance involving a top star who fell into a coma from an unexpected accident, the man who loved her and the men who are in love with her.
"Doctor Shin" is drawing intense interest as it is the first medical thriller penned by writer Phoebe, who has brought "shock and sensation" with unique imagination in every work. Director Lee Seung-hoon, who directed "Love (ft. Marriage & Divorce)," joins to complete an addictive "Phoebe-style medical thriller drama," offering a different pleasure and catharsis.
Meanwhile, Jung Yi-chan, Baek Seora, An Woo Yeon, Joo Se bin, Cheon Young-min, Song Ji In, Jeon No-min and Gee Young-san will play leading roles in "Doctor Shin," delivering breakthrough performances in a daring drama that exceeds limits.
First, Jung Yi-chan takes the title role of genius doctor Shin Ju-shin in "Doctor Shin." In the drama, Shin Ju-shin is the head of the neurosurgery department at Noua Hospital and chairman of the Noua Foundation orphanage, and a brain surgery authority who surpasses his late father, Dr. Shin Woo-pil. Jung Yi-chan, who displayed diverse charms in "Oasis" and "Fantasy Love Song," draws attention with his first portrayal of a doctor. Baek Seora appears in "Doctor Shin" as top actress Momo at the peak of her popularity. In the drama, Momo is engaged to marry Shin Ju-shin (played by Jung Yi-chan) and, although her body is intact after an accident, her brain is damaged. Baek Seora's first acting challenge, with a refreshing visual and fresh atmosphere, draws attention.
An Woo Yeon takes on a new acting transformation in "Doctor Shin," playing Ha Yong-jung, a successful game developer who is a friend of Shin Ju-shin (played by Jung Yi-chan), different from his roles in "Young Lady and Gentleman" and "Idol I." Joo Se bin, who shone in "Again, Fly" and "The Empire: The Law's Realm," appears as Geum Ba-ra, the youngest reporter in the culture department of Seongwoo Ilbo and a former orphan of the Noua Foundation, delivering a strong performance. Cheon Young-min, whose acting was recognized through the film "Morning of the World" and dramas "The Good Detective," "The Devil Judge" and "It Has Become Night," makes a surprising transformation as Kim Jin-joo, Momo's (played by Baek Seora) stylist and a former orphan of the Noua Foundation.
Song Ji In, who played fashion model Ami in "Love (ft. Marriage & Divorce)" and delivered a shocking twist to become a storm center, plays Hyun Ran-hee, Momo's (played by Baek Seora) mother and gallery owner in "Doctor Shin," injecting tense suspense.
Jeon No-min, who proved his depth with heavy, seasoned performances in "Love (ft. Marriage & Divorce)," "Ashi Durian" and "The Perfect Rules of Marriage," appears as James, a famous stylist who is Ha Yong-jung's (played by An Woo Yeon) older brother and the CEO of Rejim Company, where Kim Jin-joo (played by Cheon Young-min) belongs, firmly anchoring the weight of "Doctor Shin."
Gee Young-san, who caused a stir with bold performances in "Love (ft. Marriage & Divorce) 3" and "Ashi Durian," reveals a new charm never seen before as Paul Kim, a Western-style painter who was active in Germany and returned to Korea.
The production team said, "Actors Jung Yi-chan, Baek Seora, An Woo Yeon, Joo Se bin, Cheon Young-min, Song Ji In, Jeon No-min and Gee Young-san and other fresh and veteran actors will come together to enrich 'Doctor Shin,'" and added, "Please look forward to the medical thriller drama 'Doctor Shin,' which will bring a genre revolution."
Meanwhile, TV CHOSUN's new weekend mini-series "Doctor Shin" will be released simultaneously on TV CHOSUN and Coupang Play on Mar. 14 (Sat.) at 10:30 p.m.
