Kim Dong Wan, a member of the group Shinhwa and an actor, argued for the need to legalize prostitution.
Kim Dong Wan recently wrote on social media (SNS) Threads, "As we try to eliminate entertainment districts, the whole country is becoming one," and "Looking at entertainment districts in front of churches, schools, and police boxes, we can't help but question it."
He added, "We should acknowledge (prostitution) and manage it," and "Given the reality of increasing one-person households, we must not gloss over it with the logic that it's fine to just cover it up."
He also said, "The reason I think it should be legalized is that there are people who can't do it without paying," and "That's also true from a disease control standpoint."
After these remarks became known, critical reactions followed among internet users. His post has now been deleted after Kim Dong Wan closed his Threads account.
