Female solo singer Coi (COII, hereafter Coi), who will candidly sing about Gen Z's "fragility," will make her debut in the music industry by releasing her debut single "typing" at noon on Feb. 19.
The debut song "typing" uses Chet Baker's "Blue Room," which they enjoyed listening to together, as a backdrop and captures, in Coi's unique "neujeok" sensibility, the fleeting hesitations and awkward sincerity of repeatedly writing and erasing messages through the night.
Coi's distinctive vocal color, whispering hesitantly along with acoustic guitar playing, maximizes the song's lyrical charm.
In particular, this new release prominently presents the "vulnerable core," which elevates not only the artist herself but also the most intimate and vulnerable points of her generation into a musical core.
Instead of standardized perfection, Coi candidly depicts a vulnerable self-portrait of lack and scars, and she plans to reach listeners through the minimalist-sound easy listening genre.
Coi said, "What makes us fall in love is not perfection but the willingness to show each other's shortcomings," and expressed her aspiration, "I want to be an artist like a friend who can openly talk about likes and dislikes, what we want to do and what we want to become."
The song features top domestic and international producers, including KZ, who has played a leading role in the K-pop scene, as well as Gen.Kim Tae-young, Oliver Forsmark, Emma-Lee Andersson and BB ELLIOT, and poured Coi's singular vocal lyricism into a dense acoustic sound.
Also, BK Studio engineer Lee Ha-neul participated in the Dolby Atmos mix to realize the best sound quality.
Director Hobin (HOBIN), who has been in charge of visual planning and direction for prominent domestic and international musicians, participated as creative director, raising expectations by creating Coi's unique visuals and music video.
Planned and produced by the "Broken Hearts Social Club," which aims to be an emotional music community where imperfect people gather to fill each other's gaps with songs, Coi's debut single "typing" will be released on various online music sites starting at 12 p.m. on the 19th.
Starting with her debut song "typing," Coi plans to continuously release songs filled with diverse sensibilities and continue communicating with listeners as a relatable artist who draws empathy from her generation.
