Choi Jun-hee, daughter of the late Choi Jin-sil, voiced her position directly and protested her innocence regarding the controversy surrounding her wedding photo shoot.
Choi Jun-hee recently announced her marriage on her social media and released photos from a shoot in which she wore a wedding dress. She said she will hold her wedding at a hotel in Gangnam, Seoul, on May with a non-celebrity fiancé 11 years her senior, receiving many congratulations.
But then, centered on online communities, parts of a previously shot wedding photo spread were reexamined and the controversy grew. Observers suggested that the Japanese stone statues appearing in the background of the photos evoked the "mizukuguyo (water offering)" space. However, it was not confirmed whether the location actually performs related rites, nor was it known whether there was a specific explanation at the time of the shoot.
As the controversy spread, Choi Jun-hee on the 16th left a comment directly on a fan's post to state her position. She explained, "It was shot at a location designated by a Korean photographer who often shoots in Japan," and said, "How would I have known in that vast Tokyo?" She went on to say, "The photo in question was never a cut I officially released; it was just one of several sponsored shoots," and claimed, "The article used the image without permission."
Choi Jun-hee also released KakaoTalk messages exchanged with the photographer, saying the photographer likewise did not recognize the meaning of the space. She expressed her feelings, saying, "I had no idea. I'm so upset," which made the situation more tragic.
As circumstances emerged that a background unrelated to intent had belatedly become controversial, reactions continued that the party involved was also a victim.
