'Hwang Shin-hye's Let's Live Together' Hwang Shin-hye welled up as she thought about the approaching farewell with her biological mother.
The episode aired on the 18th on KBS 1TV's 'Hwang Shin-hye's Let's Live Together,' showing Hwang Shin-hye and her daughter on a date at the Gapyeong light festival.
That day Hwang Shin-hye recalled the farewell with her 19-year companion dog Max, saying, "It hasn't been long since the start of this year, but we have experienced some farewells." Her mother worried about her granddaughter, the main caregiver, saying, "What would Jin's true feelings be like?"
Hwang Shin-hye said, "Through this, Jin will learn something big in life and become mature. Enduring and moving on is life," but she welled up thinking about the farewell with her mother.
Above all, she confessed, "We will also experience farewells with mom, and this thought came to me. I talked with Jin, 'If grandma leaves, what will happen to us?' Now that thought comes to me so often. Friends around me who have lost their mothers find it very hard even after a year. Even after several years they still struggle, and that makes me very afraid," she said.
She emphasized, "If mom wants to live longer, she must keep expiration dates and take care of herself. Saying you love me but doing that is not loving me."
Earlier, Hwang Shin-hye's mother confessed that she had eaten cookies that fell on the ground or milk past its expiration date and got an upset stomach. In the end Hwang Shin-hye got angry, saying, "Do as you please."
Hwang Shin-hye's mother worried, "I've lived enough to die, and rather than feeling a little regret about that, I hate the thought of how sad you all will be after I die."
But Hwang Shin-hye pointed out the problem, saying, "If you dislike it that much, then mom should take care of herself. Mom's words don't add up." In a later interview she lamented, "I talked about expiration dates the most. That's when I'm the most angry and get the angriest."
There was a reason Hwang Shin-hye was particularly sensitive about expiration dates. Her mother confessed, "I had stomach cancer surgery in 2017." She said it was detected at an early stage of stomach cancer and was treated.
Hwang Shin-hye's mother said, "My daughter said, 'Everything about you is good and you do well, but everything is diluted because of what you eat.' She dislikes throwing things away because it's bad for the body, so I think that's why. I'll absolutely keep expiration dates and try not to eat past them. I'm going to love my body a bit," she promised.
