Director Hong Sangsoo's 34th feature film new work 'The day she returned' was first unveiled at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival.
On the 18th (local time) director Hong Sangsoo held the world premiere screening of his new film 'The day she returned' at the Palast in Berlin, Germany, and met with the audience.
'The day she returned' was officially invited to the panorama section of the 76th Berlin International Film Festival, and actress Kim Min-hee, director Hong Sangsoo's partner who gave birth last year, is once again credited as production manager on the film.
Frequent collaborators in Hong Sangsoo's previous works—Song Sun-mi, Jo Yoon-hee, Park Mi-so, Ha Seong-guk, Shin Seok-ho, Kim Seon-jin, Oh Yoon-soo and Kang So-i—participated together, and the film depicts the process of an actress who had quit acting after marriage and a subsequent divorce returning through an independent film.
According to U.S. outlet Variety on the day, North American distributor Cinema Guild acquired the North American distribution rights for Hong Sangsoo's new film.
Cinema Guild president Peter Kelly praised the deal, saying, "Hong Sangsoo's magic has no end." He added, "Watching 'The day she returns' was like discovering that magic once again," he said.
