Former soccer player Lee Chun-soo properly celebrated an anniversary for the first time in 14 years.
On the 18th, a video titled "an anniversary celebrated after 14 years… I didn't expect my wife's reaction to be like this" was posted on the YouTube channel "Richunsoo [Lee Chun-soo]." In the video, Lee Chun-soo went on a late anniversary date with his wife, Shim Ha-eun.
Lee Chun-soo said, "to be honest, I missed the anniversary again," with an embarrassed expression. In response, Shim Ha-eun fired back, "Christmas, the twins' birthdays, and our anniversary all fall around the same time, and you always seem to disappear then."
In particular, a past anniversary anecdote drew laughter. Shim Ha-eun said, "On our anniversary we met in Osaka, and he gave me eight jars of gochujang bought at Don Quijote as a gift. And it was something another man bought for me," expressing hurt. Lee Chun-soo explained, "that was bought by my father," but the mood did not easily ease.
The two revisited the place where they first met during their dating days and recalled memories. Shim Ha-eun recalled with a laugh, "Back then, he worked really hard to act cool. He wore slightly crooked glasses and sat with his legs crossed. His forehead was much narrower than now." On his first impression she confessed, "to be honest, I was a little surprised and thought, 'oh, so he looks like that,'" which embarrassed Lee Chun-soo.
She also confessed the moment her heart opened. Shim Ha-eun said, "At that time he took a lot of criticism, he avoided eye contact, and he went out only at night. So I wondered, 'why is this person living such a hard life?' and I felt concerned," she said.
Shim Ha-eun candidly said, "I've never had a proper proposal, and we still haven't gone on our honeymoon." In response, Lee Chun-soo apologized, "I'm really sorry," and asked, "where would you like to go?" But Shim Ha-eun answered, "nowadays I prefer making memories together with the children rather than a trip just for the two of us," warming hearts.
In the end, Lee Chun-soo launched a belated event saying he would replace his wife's broken cell phone as an anniversary gift. Even his grumbling, "who uses a phone by guessing?" completed the realistic married-couple chemistry.
Meanwhile, Lee Chun-soo married Shim Ha-eun, a model three years his junior, in 2013, and they have one son and two daughters.
Lee Chun-soo was recently booked on suspicion of violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Economic Crimes (fraud). An acquaintance, identified as A, alleged that he transferred 132 million won to Lee Chun-soo in nine separate transfers but that Lee Chun-soo did not repay the money and cut off contact, and filed a complaint. The complainant also alleged that Lee Chun-soo solicited investments in a foreign exchange futures trading site and embezzled investment funds worth hundreds of millions of won.
However, regarding this matter Lee Chun-soo's side issued an official statement saying, "It stemmed from A's misunderstanding, and Lee Chun-soo and A reached an amicable agreement. After rechecking the facts, it was confirmed that the complainant had misinterpreted some contents, and it was acknowledged that the accused, Lee Chun-soo, had no intent to defraud or deceive. Accordingly, complainant A no longer wishes for investigation or punishment and has officially withdrawn the complaint. Lee Chun-soo and A have understood this matter as a misunderstanding and amicably resolved it."
