Subculture-focused label GRIM Production will hold a singing competition for a virtual idol's music debut called "Virtual ON-LIVE! 2".
GRIM Production said it will hold the virtual idol music singing competition "Virtual ON-LIVE! 2" on March 7.
"Virtual ON-LIVE!" is a virtual idol singing competition that made its solo debut last January on Naver's streaming platform CHZZK. About 100 streamers participated, and the final selected participants debuted as a new virtual idol unit with the official music release. Also, each received a singing fee worth 1 million won, drawing significant attention.
After fierce competition, five people—Shamei, Iso, Myamyumu, Isla, and Mmune—were selected to form the unit GLIIMerS (Glimers), successfully establishing themselves in the virtual music market with the single "FESTIVE NIGHT."
Furthermore, "Virtual ON-LIVE! 2" will be held in a more expanded format. Moving beyond a CHZZK-only event, it will transcend platforms such as the live streaming platform SOOP and YouTube to become a music festival focused solely on vocal skill and musical ability.
The competition's judges include composer IGLoo, who has been attracting attention in the subculture scene, GRIM Production's executive producer G.MON, and streamer Rooksam, who played an active role as a judge in the first competition. Mmune, who was active as a member of Glimers, will serve as the special MC to lead the competition.
Notably, the final selected participants will be given the opportunity to sing a new song by skilled producer IGLoo called "Uju Gwedam". "Uju Gwedam" is an electronic dance music track that features an exciting lead synth sound; it was planned as an idol-style group song and is expected to combine high production quality with strong newsworthiness.
A GRIM Production official said, "This 'Virtual ON-LIVE! 2' will be more than a simple competition; it will be a gateway for talented virtual artists to enter the actual music market," adding, "As a music festival that transcends platforms and focuses only on musicality and vocal ability, we ask for your interest and participation."
Participants for "Virtual ON-LIVE! 2" will be accepted until Feb. 25, and the finalists will be announced on March 2. The main competition will be broadcast live on March 7.
Meanwhile, the artists finally selected through GRIM Production's "Virtual ON-LIVE! 2" will officially participate in composer IGLoo's new song "Uju Gwedam" and will debut as virtual idols upon the record's release. Each artist will also receive a 1 million won singing fee. More details can be found on GRIM Production's official fan cafe.
