Hollywood actor Rumer Willis (37) strongly denied the controversy over being a "nepo baby" (nepo baby·a second generation benefiting from celebrity parents).
Rumer recently posted a video on Instagram showing her life as a single mom. The video included the phrases "preparing lunch", "playdate", "meal prep", and "exercise", showing her getting through a busy day.
However, when some internet users left comments such as "You don't have to worry because you have famous parents," and "Don't you have a backup plan?", she spoke up herself.
Rumer said, "I have four jobs for my daughter. I am the child's sole breadwinner," and added, "I don't live off a trust fund, and I don't receive money from my parents. I mostly take care of the child by myself. Please pause before you judge."
She also said, "I'm not saying I don't have privileges. I also know I cannot fully understand the realities many people face," while emphasizing, "This post was not intended to compare privileges. I wanted to say that I am taking responsibility for my life."
Rumer is the eldest daughter of action star Bruce Willis and actress Demi Moore. She had a daughter, Louetta, with her former partner Derek Richard Thomas in 2023, but they split in August 2024. She has said they currently share custody.
Her remarks have drawn further attention because her father, Bruce Willis, is battling frontotemporal dementia (FTD). The family has shown increased unity and support since his health issues emerged.
Rumer said, "We each live in different realities. Even with stable jobs, everyone has their own difficulties," and added, "Acknowledging differences does not mean we cannot talk about the hardships we commonly face."
With discussion of the parents' vast wealth (Bruce Willis estimated at about $250 million (3.62 trillion won), Demi Moore about $200 million (2.896 trillion won)), Rumer made clear the message, "I am responsible for my daughter on my own."
