Lim Seong-geun, a cast member of Netflix's 'Culinary Class Wars 2' who had suspended broadcasting activities amid controversy over a prior drunk driving conviction, returned in front of the camera via his YouTube channel 'Imjjang TV'.
Im Seong-keun introduced an easy recipe in the video released on the 18th under the title "I prepared this because holiday food might feel greasy," saying, "You can make it fancy with just two packs of regular ramyeon. Today, let's have it with Buldak spicy ramyeon," and showed a focus more on the "cooking" itself in this video after tentatively signaling a comeback earlier with the 'Imjjang-style Dubai jjondeuk cookie' content.
He also shared an update on his personal social media on the 13th. Opening with "I wondered how you have been," he said, "I am currently preparing to open my restaurant, which is my primary occupation. Once all preparations are complete, please come by without hesitation so I can sincerely prepare a warm meal and food made with care for you." He added, "Happy new year, and I hope you spend peaceful time with your family during the holidays."
Previously, on the 16th of last month, Im Seong-keun confessed to a past drunk driving offense on his YouTube channel. During a subsequent verification process, it was revealed that he had a total of six prior convictions, including four counts of drunk driving, one count of driving without a license, and mutual assault, sparking greater fallout. He bowed his head, saying, "Whether once or 10 times is not the point. The fact remains that the person who drove under the influence is me," and announced he would suspend all broadcasting activities.
He later mentioned plans to open a restaurant in March, but speculation arose that he had withdrawn the plan after reports spread that a sale banner had been hung on the building. However, OSEN's reporting found that the property for sale was an adjacent parcel, and Im Seong-keun's restaurant was still confirmed to be preparing to open.
A representative of Im Seong-keun also drew a line, saying, "We are continuing preparations aiming to open in March. The building sale or withdrawal of the opening is groundless."
After the controversy, Im Seong-keun declared he would return to his "main work" instead of broadcasting. Attention is focused on how his choice to quietly head to the kitchen instead of the spotlight before the camera will change public perception.
