Actor Noh Jin-won directly quelled the controversy that had spread as a "reveal of a girlfriend young enough to be his daughter." He explained that the problematic photo was AI-composited.
On the 18th, Noh Jin-won posted on his SNS, "An absurd happening occurred. Yesterday at a drinking gathering a friend made an AI photo and I posted it for fun, which created an embarrassing situation," he said.
He posted side-by-side photos showing before and after the AI composition along with a screenshot of the article, adding, "Let me be clear once more: it's AI. If anyone has any misunderstandings, I hope they will be resolved."
Earlier that day, Noh Jin-won posted a photo with the caption, "A day like this comes for me too... I will love prettily." In the photo Noh Jin-won sits side by side with a young woman in a restaurant. The woman is looking at Noh Jin-won, and instead of putting his hand on her shoulder he drew attention by showing what is called a "manner hand." Because the two-shot visibly showed a large age gap, many interpreted it as a "public reveal of a relationship."
Comments fanned the flames. Actor Huh In-young left, "Dad and daughter~~ Anyway you two look good together haha," and Noh Jin-won replied, "I ask that you refrain from remarks that insult our relationship." Netizens expressed suspicion with comments like, "Isn't it AI?" and "How did you make it?" but Noh Jin-won left playful replies such as, "What do you mean I made it," and, "Nope haha," making it look like a real situation.
However, as the post rapidly spread and articles followed with headlines like "reveal of girlfriend young enough to be his daughter" and "AI suspicion," Noh Jin-won ultimately offered a personal explanation. He said, "My replies, made as a joke to friends' comments, stirred up anger," expressing his embarrassment that the situation had grown.
Meanwhile, born in 1970, Noh Jin-won debuted in 1991 with the film "Love begins now," and appeared in numerous works including "Attack the Gas Station," "200 Pounds Beauty," and "The Boys." He continues to be active on the theater stage.
