Daniel Radcliffe of the Harry Potter film series shared his thoughts on the new drama series Harry Potter.
On the 16th (local time), the U.S. outlet People released an interview with Daniel Radcliffe.
The HBO original TV series Harry Potter, whose production began last July, is reported to plan to adapt J.K. Rowling's seven original novels by allocating one season to each book.
Dominic Macfarlane was cast as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stott as Ron Weasley.
Radcliffe, who rose to stardom earlier through the Harry Potter films, said in the interview that he had exchanged messages with Rupert Grint and Emma Watson after news of the new adaptation and that they reminisced together about how surreal it is now, years later, to watch people starting that journey anew.
He said he and his former colleagues "haven't had a huge amount of conversations about the work itself," but that they all share the same feelings about the emotional range they are experiencing.
He said, "If one of us feels it, the rest of us know that feeling. We feel it the same way," and added, "When I see photos of the newly cast kids, I just want to run over and hug them. That seems to be the main impulse we all feel."
Radcliffe also confessed that seeing the young faces of the new cast gave him a new perspective on his own child-star years. He said, "When I was 11 I would do something and think, 'Of course I'm old enough to do this,' but when I meet 11-year-olds now I think, 'Wow, doing that at that age is really crazy.' Only now can I see it objectively," he admitted.
He continued, "I didn't know at the time, but now I respect my parents more. They protected me through that mad process with an incredible sense of humor. It was truly remarkable," he said.
