I Live Alone Ok Ja-yeon recounted how she came to raise a visually impaired cat.
On the 13th episode of MBC variety show I Live Alone (hereafter I Live Alone), the daily life of new family member cat "Bomi" and Ok Ja-yeon was revealed.
That day Ok Ja-yeon introduced the cat Bomi, whom she met as if by fate, drawing attention. She recalled their first meeting, saying, "She is cheerful and very curious, like a dog-cat," and "In December, while walking with a friend, we saw a cat and it walked straight toward us. When it came close I saw a wound on her back."
She continued, "I thought emergency treatment would be enough, but they said she needed surgery. The wound on her back was rotting, so I left her for surgery and when I went to pick her up the doctor said she was different from other cats. He said she couldn't see and was a little in pain."
Kian84 said, "Oh, how pitiful," and Code Kunst looked at Bomi and, lamenting, said, "Her eyes look very healthy."
Ok Ja-yeon said, "They said because she has visual impairment without external eye trauma it would be difficult for her to be adopted. So I decided I would raise her. When I brought her she stayed still on my lap," which moved people.
She added that she met the kitten as if by fate on her birthday. At first (her first pet) Chacha was very wary, but now they play very well, and "there is no hindrance to daily life. Her sense of touch is so developed that she remembers the room layout and moves around well."
Most of all, Ok Ja-yeon said, "The doctor told me that if they hadn't brought her to the hospital she wouldn't have survived the winter or seen spring. So I named her Bomi, meaning let your life be filled with spring," which touched people.
Kian84 said, "She found a very good owner," but asked, "How does she use the bathroom?" Ok Ja-yeon revealed, "When she first came she couldn't control her bowel or bladder. I kept teaching her. When she was about to defecate I would pick her up and move her and catch the stool with my hand, and after a few days of teaching she learned and there are no problems."
Then Ku Sung-hwan asked, "You had one and another came, isn't it hard to raise two?" To this Ok Ja-yeon replied, "Having two isn't difficult, and the friend who rescued Chacha helps care for her whenever they are busy."
