Comedian Park So-young is pregnant one year after marrying baseball player Moon Kyung-chan. She was undergoing in vitro fertilization but conceived naturally, doubling their joy.
Previously, Park So-young married Moon Kyung-chan, a former baseball player five years her junior, on Dec. 22, 2024. The two had known each other as acquaintances, developed into lovers, and their relationship bore fruit one month after they went public. While undergoing in vitro fertilization to become pregnant, she succeeded in conceiving naturally and became an expectant parent, now in the stable 12th week.
On the afternoon of the 13th, Park So-young told OSEN, (I was on a break after stopping the in vitro treatments) I was resting for about a month, and I became pregnant during that time. I am about 12 weeks pregnant now, and I have been coming and going while taking care of my body, she said, mentioning her current condition.
She added, People usually say the stable period is up to the 12th week, but I heard some people are careful until the 16th week. In any case, I plan to be cautious. I have been hearing a lot of pregnancy news around me lately, so I am happy, and I really want either a son or a daughter to grow big and quickly reach full term, she said, expressing her wish to meet a beautiful second generation.
Park So-young was born in 1987 and is 39 this year. She decided on in vitro fertilization to become pregnant with her husband, Moon Kyung-chan, who is five years younger, and after working hard, she confirmed a natural pregnancy.
She said, I was so happy, but I wanted to behave modestly until the stable period. So I didn't upload YouTube videos and waited, and when I saw the baby growing at 12 weeks, I decided to make it public.
When asked, How did your husband react? she said, He is very happy. (laughs) Kyung-chan is currently running a baseball academy, where he teaches children. There is an elementary division, and since he meets young children every day, he says they are very cute. But now that the baby is on the way, he is full of anticipation that the day will come when he can teach his own child.
Park So-young also said, My husband said he would raise a son a bit strictly and wouldn't know what to do if it were a daughter. (laughs) But he seems to want a daughter a little more. These days, many husbands' dream seems to be to have daughters. For now I will focus on prenatal care, but I will continue to work hard and stay busy after giving birth with activities such as YouTube, she added.
That day Park So-young also shared the detailed pregnancy process on her personal YouTube channel titled "housewife soyoung."
Park So-young said, I went to check the results of my fourth blood test and thought they would call me to the ultrasound room because my ovulation day was on the 23rd day, but my name appeared on the examination room list. I was so nervous wondering, 'Why are they calling me to the examination room?' My name changed from the examination room to the ultrasound room. When I went to the ultrasound room, there was a gestational sac. I was so happy. I got so moved that I said, 'Thank you.' What made me more nervous was that I had no symptoms. My breasts didn't get bigger, I wasn't sleepier, and I had no morning sickness. As much as I prepared diligently, a precious baby has come, and I will eat well and do my best to make our baby grow strong, she said with a smile.
Meanwhile, Park So-young, famous as a beautiful comedian on KBS, debuted in 2008 as a comedian in the 23rd open recruitment and has been active on KBS2's Gag Concert and tvN's Comedy Big League. Moon Kyung-chan was drafted by the Kia Tigers in the second round of the second phase in 2015, then moved to the NC Dinos through a trade in 2020. He later moved teams to the Lotte Giants and retired in 2024, and is currently teaching children at a baseball academy.
