American lawyer and broadcaster Seo Dong-ju revealed the circumstances of her infertility. She candidly shared the difficulties she experienced during treatment and her current plans.
In a video recently released on her YouTube channel "Seo Dong-ju's Tto.Do.Dong," Seo Dong-ju shared everyday life, shopping for groceries with her husband and making rice cake soup. Contrary to the warm atmosphere in the video, she calmly spoke about the difficult times she endured during infertility treatment.
Seo Dong-ju said she had previously attempted in vitro fertilization but confessed that she visited the emergency room due to severe pain during the treatment. "While receiving injections, my abdomen became very swollen and I felt lethargic. I was constantly tired and sleepy," she said, adding, "The menstrual pain was so severe that I ended up going to the emergency room. I received an IV and painkillers and then returned home," recounting the situation at the time.
Because of this, the couple decided to pause treatment for a while. She said, "They told me pain severe enough to require a trip to the emergency room is uncommon," and added, "Rather than being greedy, I plan to follow the natural course as long as it does not harm my health."
She also opened up about her feelings regarding infertility. Seo Dong-ju confessed, "One of the reasons I did not remarry for nearly 10 years was the burden of infertility," adding, "I did not want to burden someone by giving them the fact that I might not be able to have children." She said she honestly told her husband early in their courtship, "If family is important to someone, it's better not to date me." But her husband understood her situation and chose to marry her.
She is now preparing again. Seo Dong-ju said, "I plan to try egg transfer around Aug. to Sept. 2026," emphasizing, "Mental health management is the most important thing, as this could become a long-term battle." She also said she is conducting investment meetings related to her personal brand and expects new fruits both in her work and family life.
Despite the pain that led her to the emergency room, Seo Dong-ju has chosen to prioritize her health. Her candid confession has resonated deeply with others facing the same concerns.<
