Comedian and beauty Park So-young, who underwent in vitro fertilization, naturally conceived during the procedure and will become a mother this year.
On the afternoon of the 13th Park So-young told OSEN, "I was on a break so I had been resting for about a month, and I became pregnant during that time. I am now about 12 weeks pregnant and have been coming and going while recuperating," she said.
Park So-young married former baseball player Moon Kyung-chan, who is five years younger, on Dec. 22, 2024. At the time, the wedding between the comedian and the famous baseball player drew great attention, and the two announced that they would become parents about a year after their marriage.
At about 12 weeks pregnant, Park So-young said, "They usually say the stable period lasts until 12 weeks, but I hear some people are careful until 16 weeks. In any case, I plan to be cautious. These days I hear a lot of pregnancy news around me, so I'm happy," and added, "Whether it's a son or a daughter, I hope they grow quickly and become full-term soon," expressing her wish to meet the baby soon.
Asked if she thought it would be more joyful to conceive naturally while undergoing in vitro fertilization, she said, "I am very happy, but I intended to be a bit modest until the stable period. So I didn't upload YouTube videos and waited, and at 12 weeks seeing the baby growing well I decided to make it public."
Regarding her husband Moon Kyung-chan's reaction, Park So-young said, "He is very happy. (Laughs) Kyung-chan runs a baseball academy now and teaches children there. There is an elementary division, and since he meets young children every day he says they are very cute. But now that the baby is here he is full of expectation that the day will come when he can teach his own child," she revealed.
She continued, "He said if it's a son he'll raise him a bit strictly and if it's a daughter he doesn't know what to do. (Laughs) But my husband seems to want a daughter a little more. These days husbands' dream seems to be to have many daughters," she laughed.
Park So-young added, "I will focus on prenatal care for a while, but I will continue to work hard and plan to be busy with activities such as YouTube after giving birth."
Park So-young debuted in 2008 as a comedian in KBS's 23rd public recruitment and appeared on KBS2's Gag Concert and tvN's Comedy Big League, among others. Moon Kyung-chan was drafted by the Kia Tigers in the second round of the 2015 second draft and moved to the NC Dinos through a trade in 2020. He later moved to the Lotte Giants and retired in 2024; he now runs a baseball academy.
