'Mad Concrete Dreams' lecture teaser videos by Ha Jung-woo that teach 'How to become a building owner in Korea' were released.
The new tvN Saturday-Sunday drama Mad Concrete Dreams, which premieres on the 14th (written by Oh Han-gi, directed by Im Pil-seong, hereafter 'Building owner'), depicts the suspense that unfolds when a debt-ridden livelihood building owner takes part in a fake kidnapping to protect his family and building, which are more precious than his life. The show has attracted attention with a dazzling cast lineup including Ha Jung-woo, Lim Soojung, Kim Jun Han, Jung Soojung and Shim Eunkyung.
The newly released teaser contains a financial planning lecture by Ki Su-jong (played by Ha Jung-woo), the building owner in the drama, drawing attention. Dreaming of a life turnaround after becoming a building owner, his penny-pinching know-how is laid out step by step, sparking interest.
Lesson 1: the weight of being a building owner. In the video, Ki Su-jong takes out a desperate loan known as yeongkkeul (borrowing everything, even one's soul) and goes around borrowing money from here and there. Then he goes into survival mode, working part-time jobs until redevelopment is confirmed, saying he will hold on 'no matter if it turns out well or poorly.'
Lesson 2: the weight of being the head of the household. In the video, Ki Su-jong reassures his worried wife Kim Seon (played by Lim Soojung), who is concerned about rising bank interest rates, and shows the image of a head of household doing any money-making job such as delivery, courier work and pipe cleaning. But Ki Su-jong, who had said he would handle everything, gets into trouble and, despite receiving a barrage of nagging from Kim Seon, shouts that he will hold on.
The teaser ends with the appearance of a troubling incident that seems to have befallen Ki Su-jong, who had been barely holding on. Scenes follow of someone collapsed after being kidnapped in the basement storage of his building and a startled Ki Su-jong, his close friend Min Hwal-seong (played by Kim Jun Han) rubbing his pride by asking, "How long are you going to live being ignored?" and Ki Su-jong making a determined face in the rain. At the same time Ki Su-jong utters the portentous line "this is the final stage," heightening curiosity about what the plan could be.
What will Ki Su-jong do to protect his precious building and beloved family? The weight he must bear as a building owner and head of the household is thrillingly foreshadowed, raising anticipation for the first broadcast.
