Broadcaster and U.S. lawyer Seo Dong-ju mentioned the hardships caused by infertility and confessed that because of it she delayed remarriage for nearly 10 years.
On the 12th, a video titled "Seo Dong-ju's comrade in infertility sincerely comforted, Seo Dong-ju even revealed it for the first time" was uploaded to the YouTube channel "Seo Dong-ju's Tto.Do.Dong."
In the released video, Seo Dong-ju was seen reading subscribers' stories and sharing counseling. The story that came up at that time was that they felt depressed due to the stress of infertility.
Seo Dong-ju confessed, "This letter feels like something I'm sending to myself. I haven't told anyone, but haven't I been married twice? I tried to get pregnant before my remarriage. At that time I tried for two years but it didn't work well."
She continued, "That process was so hard. Some people think I remarried quickly, but there were nearly 10 years from my divorce to my remarriage. Why would I not have married in that time? There was pregnancy and infertility stress," and for the first time mentioned the reason she had delayed remarriage.
She explained, "I knew I had infertility and worried about putting that burden on a new person," and said she revealed this fact even before meeting her current husband.
Seo Dong-ju said, "When I decided to marry my husband, I said, 'I might not be able to have children at all.' I had already said that before we dated, and still he wanted to do it," and added, "Then I told him to tell his mother. It's not just about the two of us being happy; how wonderful would it be to have grandchildren. We had this conversation before dating."
She emphasized, "I heard infertility stress causes as much stress as cancer. People feel so depressed and exhausted, cut off from relationships, and many people go through this. I'm now in my second year, so four years total. Around me there are people trying for seven or eight years—very diverse. Managing our mental strength is important."
Meanwhile, Seo Dong-ju is the daughter of the late Seo Se-won and Seo Jeong-hee, and after practicing as a lawyer in the United States she has continued broadcasting activities in Korea since 2021.
She later revealed that she divorced in 2014, and she remarried a non-celebrity man in June 2025. The groom is an executive at the management company that includes Jang Seongkyu and is four years younger than Seo Dong-ju.<
