Comedian Hong Hyun-hee's husband Jasson said regarding the controversy over promoting his business, "It is not a diet drug."
On the afternoon of the 13th, Jasson posted a long message on his social media and directly stated his position regarding the allegation that he promoted his business by using Hong Hyun-hee's weight loss.
First, he said, "First of all, the products I launched are not diet drugs. The products launched this time are not health functional foods or pharmaceuticals but ordinary food," and added, "They are products made so that the vinegar, oil and vegetables that Hyun-hee consistently consumed while regaining healthy eating habits can be consumed more safely, with uniform quality, and conveniently."
He continued, "For those who do not see Hyun-hee often, it may seem as if she suddenly lost weight, but I want to emphasize that this is the result of long-term efforts in which Hyun-hee combined pilates with regular walking every day," explaining that Hong Hyun-hee's weight loss was not simply due to product consumption.
He added, "I watched and joined Hyun-hee as she changed her eating habits for her health, ate vegetables and vinegar before meals, practiced intermittent fasting, and alternately succeeded and failed on different days while making daily efforts," and said, "Seeing someone who did not particularly care about health change, I felt that her intention was sincere. Seeing Hyun-hee like that, I think I changed too."
Regarding the criticism that he promoted products by using Hong Hyun-hee's weight loss, Jasson said, "This is not simply making and selling products but the outcome of thinking and preparing so that Hyun-hee can consistently consume good foods within a lifelong healthy routine," and stated, "My family and I eat them, and we showed that process transparently through videos. If it can be a small help to people who have concerns similar to Hyun-hee, I think that is enough."
Hong Hyun-hee recently drew attention after losing more than 10 kg and reaching a body weight of 49 kg. In the process, Hong Hyun-hee mentioned the importance of "blood sugar management" on YouTube and social media, and later when Jasson launched the products he was accused of promoting them for business purposes.
Below is Jasson's full statement.
Hello, this is Jasson.
Yesterday and today there were some sensational headlines and posts about Hyun-hee's weight loss and the launch of Club Hongdangmu,
Those who have steadily watched before need not worry, but for people who first encounter this through article headlines or posts, I want to say a few things because there is a concern they might accept information that differs from the facts.
First of all, the products I launched are not 'diet drugs'.
Many article headlines said I made 'diet supplements' or 'diet drugs.'
Those interested in Club Hongdangmu products all know this, but the products I launched this time are ordinary foods, not health functional foods or pharmaceuticals.
They are products made so that the vinegar, oil and vegetables that Hyun-hee consistently consumed while regaining healthy eating habits can be consumed more safely and with uniform quality and convenience.
She did not take Wegovy or Mounjaro, was never prescribed them, and has no plans to do so.
For those who do not see Hyun-hee often, it may seem as if she suddenly lost weight, but I want to make clear that it is the result of long-term efforts in which Hyun-hee combined pilates with regular walking every day.
I never said she lost weight without exercise or that exercise was unnecessary.
The weight loss was a process that combined dietary changes and exercise.
There is no absurd product that simply makes you lose weight by eating it.
I hope misunderstandings do not arise from some edited videos or sensational article headlines alone.
I watched and participated alongside Hyun-hee as she changed her eating habits for her health, ate vegetables and vinegar before meals, practiced intermittent fasting, and alternately succeeded and failed on different days while making daily efforts.
Seeing someone who did not particularly care about health change, I felt that her intention was sincere.
Seeing Hyun-hee like that, I think I changed too.
While preparing this product, we worked with experts in each field, within verifiable ranges, from selecting ingredients to the manufacturing process, not only the heads of each supplier.
The Club Hongdangmu brand is not simply about making and selling products; it is the result of thinking and preparing so that Hyun-hee can consistently consume good foods within a lifelong healthy routine.
My family and I eat them, and we showed that process transparently through videos.
If it can be a small help to people who have concerns similar to Hyun-hee, I think that is enough.
Hyun-hee and I still have many clumsy moments and much to do going forward. I wanted to emphasize that Hyun-hee's weight loss and the products I present at Club Hongdangmu were not achieved by one or two days of effort.
