'Chungju man,' who built nationwide recognition, Assistant Deputy Director Kim Seon-tae directly revealed his feelings after leaving public office and his future plans. He clearly drew a line on the possibility of political participation.
Kim Seon-tae said in a phone call with OSEN on the 13th, "It is true that I resigned. However, nothing has been concretely decided yet," and "I am currently using up my vacation and plan to calmly consider the direction after resignation." He added, "The details of my whereabouts will likely become clear after early March. It is true that there has been talk of an entertainment agency, but nothing has been decided so far," expressing a cautious stance.
He also laughed off reports that he might enter politics after former Chungju Mayor Cho Gil-hyeong's recent resignation. Kim Seon-tae said, "It has nothing to do with politics," and "I have never thought in that direction," making that clear.
He also showed concern about whether to continue using the name 'Chungju man.' He said, "Putting legal issues aside, I think it is appropriate morally not to use it after leaving public office," and "I now have to think about what kind of image I can show in a new environment."
Kim Seon-tae released a video titled 'final greeting' on Chungju city's official YouTube channel that day. In the short video of about 30 seconds, he calmly announced his resignation, saying, "I entered public service 10 years ago, and after living as Chungju man for seven years, I say farewell." He bowed his head and said, "It is thanks to the support of subscribers that someone as lacking as I could achieve small successes," and "I thank the citizens of Chungju who cheered me on and the colleagues at Chungju City Hall who always showed consideration."
He also delivered a final greeting, saying, "The seven years I spent with you were the happiest time of my life," and "Please continue to love Chungju a lot. Until now, I was Chungju man."
As an official of Chungju City Hall, Kim Seon-tae drew nationwide attention by operating official social media and a YouTube channel. Under the nickname 'Chungju man,' he created a new model for local government promotion and was credited with leading a boom in public institution YouTube channels nationwide. In recognition of these achievements, he was promoted from grade 9 to grade 6 in about seven years after appointment and served as head of the new media team.
Attention is focused on what new path Kim Seon-tae will choose after leaving public office and on his actions to be revealed after early March.
