Paeng Hyun-sook, who has become known as the owner of a popular restaurant where people line up, brought up again the behind-the-scenes story from her days in Yangpyeong that was once called a 'cheating cafe.'
Earlier on the MBN variety show 'Altoran,' which featured a chef special, Lee Sang-min introduced Paeng Hyun-sook as a "celebrity who hit the jackpot with cooking." He teased, "She's not Choi Yangrak's wife anymore; now it's reversed 9-to-1." Introduced as a chef with 33 years of experience, Paeng Hyun-sook said, "I went through a lot," and candidly shared past business failures.
After repeated attempts with ventures from a ceramics shop in Gangnam to clothing stores and restaurants, she in particular mentioned an episode about a family restaurant she ran in the mountains of Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province. She shared the bittersweet story, saying, "I made it a space where families could eat while looking at nature, but because the location was secluded, many cheating couples came," and added, "Would I be crazy to make a cheating cafe? It's a past story, not an ongoing one," drawing laughter.
She also revealed how to tell cheating couples apart. Paeng Hyun-sook said, "You can tell when they get out of the car. Adulterers come in arm in arm, gracefully and sweetly, and pretend not to know anyone when greeting. Real married couples take photos and leave proof shots," making the studio burst into laughter.
Meanwhile, her husband Choi Yangrak recently mentioned the same episode on his YouTube channel 'Yangrak1beonji.' He added the anecdote that "there were unusually many cheating couples at our cafe" and that he played Jo Gwan-woo songs all day.
Paeng Hyun-sook said she earned four certificates over four years, saying, "I thought you had to study and have qualifications to be recognized as a chef." On that day's broadcast she also revealed the recipe for the '1-for-3万能 seasoning' and showcased her exceptional cooking skills.
After repeated failures, Paeng Hyun-sook has now established herself as the owner of a hugely successful restaurant. The Yangpyeong cafe episode, which combined laughter and surprises, is once again drawing attention.
