Broadcaster Jang Yeong-ran confessed to a painful past of being scammed out of hundreds of millions of won in an investment fraud after trusting an acquaintance.
On the afternoon of the 11th, a video titled "First confession! Voice phishing, Jang Yeong-ran's tearful confession after being victim of investment fraud (hundreds of millions in damages, celebrity scam)" was posted on the YouTube channel A-grade Jang Yeong-ran.
Jang Yeong-ran's husband, Han Chang-eun, mentioned his wife's tumultuous fraud experience and began, "In cases of fraud, typically (the company) says it will be listed on the stock market,"
Han Chang-eun revealed the specific amount Jang Yeong-ran fell victim to, saying, "After hearing 'Ms. Yeong-ran, invest' and trusting the person, I think a large amount—one jang (100 million won)—was put in." He added, "We haven't received that money back. It didn't go public," indicating the losses have not yet been recovered.
In response, Jang Yeong-ran, with a bitter expression, admitted she suffered a large financial loss from trusting someone, saying, "They said they'd return the principal, but they didn't."
