Allegations of power abuse involving soccer player Hwang Hee-chan's family have arisen, and attention is focused on whether his older sister Hwang Hee-jung will leave Shooting Stars.
On the 12th, a representative of SBS' Shooting Stars told OSEN, "We are currently assessing the situation regarding Hwang Hee-jung."
Earlier, supercar chauffeur·rental company Bahana (UCK) filed a complaint accusing Hwang Hee-chan's uncle, a person surnamed Hwang, and an associate surnamed Lee of fraud and joint threats. Meanwhile, on the 12th a media outlet reported allegations of power abuse by Hwang Hee-chan's family, causing a stir.
Bahana signed a 2024 vehicle chauffeur service contract with BtheHC, a private corporation run by Hwang Hee-chan's family. The contract stipulated that the "client" (Bahana) would provide vehicle services to the "principal" (Hwang Hee-chan) in exchange for the principal promoting the client's services. But Bahana said it provided chauffeur vehicles even for unofficial schedules of Hwang Hee-chan's family, and claimed that Hwang Hee-chan and his older sister, Hwang Hee-jung, who is also the agency representative, each caused more than 10 accidents yet never took responsibility for them. They also said the principal did not properly fulfill contractual obligations, including promotional duties specified in the contract.
But BtheHC, Hwang Hee-chan's agency, fully denied these allegations in an official press release. Instead, it alleged that Bahana continued promotional activities using Hwang Hee-chan after the contract expired or failed to inform them of a business closure during the contract, claiming fraud and deceptive practices, infringement of portrait and name rights, and defamation by false statements, among other damages.
It added, "It is UCK Company, not Hwang Hee-chan and BtheHC, that repeatedly betrayed trust first. We will actively pursue legal action to reveal the truth and prevent recurrence against malicious acts of publishing and reporting false statements to exploit a star player's status and good deeds to escape their own economic hardship and to usurp our company's profits."
Notably, Hwang Hee-jung is currently active as a member of FC Gukdae Family on Shooting Stars. There was intense interest in whether she would leave Shooting Stars in connection with this controversy, but it was reported that no discussion about her departure has taken place yet. When asked for comment, SBS said, "We are currently assessing the situation."
