Mixed-gender group KOYOTE member Shin Ji belatedly confessed to being the victim of absurd rumors and jealousy in the early days of her debut.
Shin Ji on the 11th uploaded a video titled 30 years later I went back to school.. to her personal YouTube channel "How are you?".
The released video depicted Shin Ji, who prides herself on being the "daughter of Incheon," exploring the Bupyeong District of Incheon Metropolitan City where she spent her childhood. Shin Ji visited her alma maters from elementary through middle and high school, as well as the underground shopping area and cafes filled with memories she shared with childhood friends.
While eating a nostalgic parfait at a cafe, Shin Ji laughed bitterly and said, "Even after I debuted there were a lot of those rumors. They said there wasn't a man in Incheon I hadn't dated." She protested, "I've never even met them," and appealed, "I went to an all-girls middle school and all-girls high school."
Shin Ji said, "In high school there was a lot of jealousy (from others). They couldn't say it to my face, but when leaving school they'd hang a sketchbook next to my desk and write things on it," which caused shock. She added with regret, "It was especially common when I was close with g.o.d. They would say 'don't flirt with them,' 'don't hit on them.'"
She continued, "As I walked down the hall there was a place to fill water from the dispenser. There were kids who would fill a cup and throw it at me. Then I would take it and throw it back," she said with a laugh, recalling a past in which she did not hold back.
Fortunately Shin Ji said with a laugh as she fondly recalled those days, "Teachers liked me a lot. The vice principal especially. If I was a little late he would come to the teachers' office and tell me to sing before I left. When I debuted all the teachers came to see me. When I was an adult and had events at nightclubs the teachers all came to the nightclubs too."
