'Office worker band' Amutta Band returned with different music. It is a fresh combination of Hong Kyung-min, Jo Young-soo, Kim Joon-hyun, Cho Jung-min, Jeon In-hyeok and Cha Taehyun. It is a new, charming band united by dreams and passion for music.
Amutta Band (Hong Kyung-min, Jo Young-soo, Cha Taehyun, Jeon In-hyeok, Kim Joon-hyun, Cho Jung-min) held a showcase at SA Hall in Dongsung-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, at 4 p.m. on the 12th to commemorate the release of their first digital single "You know" and revealed a live performance of their debut single "You know."
Amutta Band consists of Hong Kyung-min (leader·bass), Jo Young-soo (keyboard), Cha Taehyun (guest vocal), Jeon In-hyeok (guitar), Kim Joon-hyun (drums) and Cho Jung-min (piano), and is a team formed to present "good music" that crosses genre boundaries.
Hong Kyung-min, who dominated the pop world with his powerful husky vocals, transforms into a bassist this time to show a surprising charm while solidifying the band's cohesion as Amutta Band's leader. Jo Young-soo composed "You know," building Amutta Band's musical color and playing the keyboard to deepen the ensemble's richness. Cha Taehyun participated as a guest vocalist, raising the song's completeness with his uniquely understated yet sincere voice.
Jeon In-hyeok, formerly of the band Yada and loved across eras, joins not as a vocalist but as a guitarist this time, adding richness to the band sound. Kim Joon-hyun joined as the drummer, bringing momentum and energy to the team with pro-level drumming skills. Cho Jung-min took on piano, lending the sound a smooth strength with stable playing ability.
Guest vocalist Cha Taehyun said, "I really stumbled into this place by chance, but thanks to it a new track was born and it is a very good thing for me. I'm very grateful. I'm very thankful for being able to do a stage like this, and it's a very strange thing. I was very surprised," and added, "From when we planned the showcase I thought, 'Why should we do this?' but I didn't expect so many people to come. We're not idols, so it's very surprising."
Amutta Band leader Hong Kyung-min said, "It was a feeling I couldn't usually sense. When I was 20, when I went to theaters with young friends to perform before becoming a singer, it was chaotic but thrilling. I had forgotten that during my singer life, but now I feel that way. Meeting good members, I'm unexpectedly enjoying greater fortune than I imagined." said with excitement.

About the formation of Amutta Band, Hong Kyung-min explained, "Everyone has small dreams, but for me it was creating a band with colleagues for a long time. It was a long-held dream, but finding like-minded fellow entertainers to form a band was not easy. I thought about it for a long time and first told Kim Joon-hyun, who shared that thirst the most. Then we recruited Cho Jung-min and Jeon In-hyeok, but honestly I never imagined Jo Young-soo. Even if we had done it among ourselves we might have made songs, but I wondered whether we could make songs like the one earlier."
Jo Young-soo said about joining the band, "I was resting at home when I talked with Hong Kyung-min on the phone and he said he had met Amutta Band. His voice sounded so excited and happy. Without hesitation I said, 'That sounds fun — can't I join?' as both a request and a comment. From there we decided to do it right away."
They appeared on KBS 2TV's "Immortal Songs" New Year's project 2026 actors special, which aired last month, and revealed a strong presence by winning the final victory at the same time as forming the band. With a harmonious band sound and explosive vocals they proved their potential as a band, and the fresh combination rarely seen on one stage elicited enthusiastic responses from the audience.
"You know," which will be released at 6 p.m. on the 13th, was composed by hitmaker composer Jo Young-soo, and Amutta Band members participated in writing the lyrics to further raise the song's completeness. Guest vocalist Cha Taehyun's understated yet sincere timbre also added depth to the song.
The song is a love serenade that blends stadium pop and rock with a sense of scale, expressing the desire to convey love even if you have to run until you're out of breath and the sincerity that doesn't stop even if you don't know the end. The lyrics delicately capture the moment of being most honest in front of love.
After finishing the first live performance that day, Hong Kyung-min said, "In a way today felt like our first official live performance. I'm glad it ended safely without any major mistakes. I'm lacking, but I'm so happy to have finished the first stage well."
Kim Joon-hyun also shared his excitement about the band's debut, saying, "I was very nervous and excited. As a drummer, standing at the front of the stage with a bang still doesn't feel familiar. It's that nervous but exciting. I longed for and wanted to form a band for a very long time, and being with top singers and younger members in my mid-40s made me excited and I felt a lump in my throat at the end."
Jeon In-hyeok also said, "I've played a lot and done band activities, but the feeling was quite different. I lost some sleep. I felt the excitement of debuting for the first time in 20 years. It felt like a debut stage, and because we prepared a lot with the members, I think we showed a good sound."
Cho Jung-min added, "It was really great. My heart was pounding and I was overwhelmed. I was thrilled and overwhelmed at the thought that many people would feel the same. It felt like running to a first love."
Cha Taehyun participated as a guest vocalist for Amutta Band this time. Hong Kyung-min said of Cha Taehyun, "If an outstanding vocalist joins, people might think, 'That person overshadows Jeon In-hyeok who also plays guitar and Hong Kyung-min who also plays guitar,' but right now it's very appropriate. If Cha Taehyun is busy and can't do the next single, we would like someone who loves singing, even if not a professional singer, to join us." he said with a smile.
Hong Kyung-min also raised expectations by announcing that another close friend, actor Jang Hyuk, would participate in the showcase held that afternoon.
Jeon In-hyeok said about Cha Taehyun's participation, "There's no disappointment about the vocals. Our band is one where everyone sings and plays; everyone is the main character. We sang together with that intention on this album as well. Taehyun hyung's vocals are very good. His vocals have the sensitivity of a boy. The boyish, unstoppable sensitivity is something we couldn't express. He was perfect, so Cha Taehyun hyung sang."
Amutta Band members said they have no specific goals set and just want to enjoy making music. Hong Kyung-min said, "We actually don't set anything. Our goal is to enjoy ourselves. I think being able to keep enjoying it alone is a huge dream."
Kim Joon-hyun added, "There is no goal. We really gather to talk about music and rehearse for three hours, sometimes four hours. And we have gatherings that last about eight hours. Just being together doing something makes me so happy," and added, "If there is a goal, I'd like to hold overseas concerts even at our own expense."
Kim Joon-hyun laughed and said, "I want to play at rock festivals like Pentaport or Jisan. We don't get high pay. Don't be afraid. If you roughly cover travel expenses, the fact that getting on stage itself is exciting and fun is something I hope many people will recognize."
Jeon In-hyeok also said, "Of course I hope the results are good. We just want to be happy. We're not a team that gives phenomenal performances or the ultimate sound; I hope people can unfold dreams in their hearts while listening to our music."
Cho Jung-min said, "I don't think we have a role model. I hope people see us and take us as a role model so that the next office worker bands will emerge. I hope people do what they want. Although I do trot, I majored in classical music and there was music I wanted to do in my heart," and enjoyed activities as Amutta Band itself.
The guest vocalist, which started with Cha Taehyun, will continue with colleagues from various fields in the future. Kim Joon-hyun said, "It was difficult to find a vocalist. If an existing singer took the role, our color might disappear, so we'll keep using acquaintance chances for vocals. I'm waiting for Moon Seyoon as the next guest vocalist. I told him, 'It's not, 'Do you want to try?' but 'You're next.'' he said.
Comparing them to Mido and Parasol, the office worker band from the drama "Hospital Playlist," he joked, "If Cho Jung-seok has no band to sing with, come here. We're open. Cho Jung-seok also has many regrets about this side of activities. If Mido and Parasol don't perform, we can push them," sending a love call to Cho Jung-seok and drawing laughter.
Hong Kyung-min said, "I hope people compare us to Mido and Parasol. I would be happy if people recognize us even in that way," expressing a desperate wish.
Amutta Band's first single "You know" will be available on various music sites from 6 p.m. on the 13th.
