Actress Choi Jung-yoon candidly revealed the background behind her belated public disclosure of remarriage.
In a video released on the YouTube channel 'Two Jobs Choi Jung-yoon' on the 12th, she, while having a meal with close comedian Kim Da-rae and a college classmate, opened by saying, "I debated a lot about whether to tell you." She then confessed, "Actually, a new family member has joined," and announced her remarriage.
Choi Jung-yoon said, "Not long ago, on my daughter Ji-woo's birthday, my heart was full and I wrote a long post on social media. I thought of someone I'm grateful for and at the end I wrote about my feelings for the new family, but no one noticed," and laughed, "I wasn't trying to hide it; it was a shy coming-out."
The reason he disclosed his remarriage was because of the 'single mom frame.' Choi Jung-yoon said, "I don't get many drama offers but I get a lot of variety show offers. Most of them were for programs where I appear alone or variety show proposals with a single-mom concept involving the child," she confessed. She added, "Each time I had to refuse by saying, 'I'm no longer single.' The producers were surprised."
She said, "I'm not an extraordinary person, but I felt I should shed this frame now," and added, "When people find out later, I didn't want to hear them say, 'What's up with her?' Even unintentionally, it was burdensome that every action was consumed as 'single-mom Choi Jung-yoon.'"
Meanwhile, Choi Jung-yoon revealed about her remarriage partner, "He was a younger man I knew; somehow he became younger than me. He is five years younger," and it was reported that her daughter has naturally accepted the new family and shows special affection, adding to the warm sentiment.
After carefully preparing a new start for a long time, attention is focused on what activities Choi Jung-yoon will continue beyond the 'single-mom' image.
